    3. It looks like you need to update Flash. I just opened the site without issue. I was able to do a search but when I clicked on a result it opened in a new window which I do not care for because a search has to be conducted as the search criteria is not highlighted and not everyone of them opened which leads me to think that some changes have been made that affect each of us differently depending on our browsers, version of Flash Player, etc. Linda in Costa Rica Monroe County, New York Genealogy http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~monroenys/ Monroe County, New York History http://freepages.history.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~monroenys/ ----- Original Message ----- From: evelyn cooper To: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, November 18, 2010 4:36 PM Subject: Re: [NYMONROE] Fulton history web site I'm still unable to get on this web site. Do you have id on any/all the people in addition to Mary and husband? The image I have is a full length view of them standing outside; Mary is wearing a dark dress. They seem rather formally dressed, so I wonder if it was taken at some "event." A wedding? It is undated. Do you have that one? Mary was born in little Mundelfingen which is about 12 miles from the Swiss border. She arrived in New York with her parents, Joseph and Caroline (Ebi) Hall, and a lot of brothers and sisters in May 1854. It appears the family came to boomtown Rochester immediately. 1854 was the peak year for German-speaking immigation to Rochester. My email is [email protected] Send me your snail mail, so I can send you more info. It's great to find another Hall descendent. I have now meet four distant male cousins (we'll work it out to see if we are third or fourth cousins). Each descend from one of Mary's brothers. Did you grow up in Rochester? Author: vhowe146 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12118/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Looking for info on Abraham HOWE who, according to "HOWE GENEALOGIES" (#139 in John Howe Volume), is said to have died in Rochester. Not much info to go on; no death date, no known spouse or children. His family line is Jaazaniah5, Jaazaniah4, John3, Isaac2, John1. My guess is that he died around 1815 or - 20 yrs. He was likely born in Deerfield, MA. (ca. 1762) to Jaazaniah and Anna (LYON) HOWE. His younger brother, Hezekiah, settled in what became Perinton (just a few miles southeast of Rochester) around 1797. Hezekiah and his family were later "removed" to Genesee County by the guardians of the poor in 1818. Hezekiah was married to a gal named Susannah (surname unk.) she may have lived in the area around Perinton. Just hoping that info on Abraham might lead me to Susannah's family. 3. Based on weekly and monthly reports I get from the search engines.. There are best results to obtain: The BEST Results?? Be mindful - all lists are always "SURNAME, given name" Three best ways with QUOTEMARKS " 1. "Surname, " (put a space after , then ") 2. "Surname, given name" (don't bother to try for middle name (middle names produce poor results) 3. ", Mary" - will work if you are not sure of married name but will produce a LOT of results! 1. Don't bother trying without quotemarks, you get more unwamted results. 2. Don't try county name, just go to the county list and you get more results there. 3. Don't try state name, just go to the state in question and browse. 4. Don't try these words - probate, guardianship, etc. Just go to appropriate sections. You get better results. http://www.sampubco.com/
