Author: evelyncooper64 Surnames: WEBB, OSHANGESEE Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.monroe/12128/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Howard Webb was born 6Oct1901 to Homer and Julia (Mahar) WEBB. He has an older sister, Doris A., who married William OShangesee. I found Howard on the 1910 census (age 8) and the 1920 cenus (age 18). I have a letter written by his sister in 1938 stating his address was 121 Elm Drive, Rochester. On the Rochester Library system I found a Howard A. WEBB listed in 1926 thru 1929, but not sure if this is him. Also found two deaths of Howard WEBB, one in 1982, one in 1993, but I don't know much about him to know which is my Howard. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Many thanks, Evelyn Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Is this it? Found it here http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nymonnws/ Rochester, Monroe, NY Democrat & Chronicle Sun May 22, 1932 DEUTSCH - George DEUTSCH entered into rest Saturday at the Strong Memorial Hospital. He leaves his widow, Mrs. Pauline DEUTSCH, two daughters, Genevieve and Doris and two sons, Louis and Robert; a sister, Mrs. John LOUGHLIN. The remains are resting at the home of his sister, Mrs. John LOUGHLIN, 410 Hawley Street from where the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at 8:30 o'clock and at 3 o'clock at SS. Peter & Paul's Church. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. I have been in touch with some Teutsch researchers who have also observed that the surname was sometimes spelled with a T and other times with a D. I have also seen RC church records with both spelings. Do you know the parents of the George you are researching? My theory is that at one time it was spelled Teutsch but one branch used the alternate spelling of Deutsch. I have seen this happen with other family lines. I came to the same conclusion that he was not of much means. The Mount Hope Cemetary record did not mention when he died so naturally I was hoping there might be an obituary in the paper that would bring that fact to light or perhaps even list some family members. There are several Callahans listed in the same cemetary who died within 5 years but I don't know if there is any connection to them or not. The city directories information helps as well as he did not re-marry in Rochester atleast. He was born in Lycoming County, PA. and is listed on the 1920 census. I am a grand-son. That might indicate that she was of modest means. She also was buried in the public graves section which could back up that hypothesis. She was 51 when she died, born about 1913. She's not listed in the SSDI. Nor does she appear in the 1920 and 1930 census of Rochester, the city marriages, or the 1960 and 1963 city directories.
