    3. The Thomas B. Rockwell that you are talking about is Thomas Burr Rockwell, not of the line of Thomas, who married Lucy Lindley, and second, married Hannah Tymeson. Thomas Burr Rockwell and Thomas Belding Rockwell both had fathers named Thomas (this one is really FULL of idiosyncracies) and both had roots in Connecticut. Thomas, who settled in Stockbridge, is very likely the son of either Thomas or John Rockwell, whose parents were John and Abigail (Belden) Rockwell. I can't make a guess at this point as to whether it was John or Thomas who was the father, but feel very confident that I am in the right line. Some of this comes from the Tuttle genealogy, some from the Rockwell/Keeler genealogy, and the rest comes from looking at this particular family in a wide variety of sources and connecting them. Not only is the Thomas B. controversial (which I do believe I have sorted out now), but there is also another Thomas B., born in, or removed to, Cortland County, related to a Garrett Rockwell. This is not the same Garrett Rockwell who is my great grandfather, but another, and gets his name from the surname of a family which married into that particular Rockwell line - same as Thomas Belding, or Belden, Rockwell did. It's a rat's nest really and, unfortunately, there isn't anything definitive regarding this particular area of Rockwells. Thomas Burr Rockwell was a missionary, but his family went to Illinois - Thomas Belding Rockwell married Mary Jemima Dunham, was a farmer, stayed in Stockbridge and died there. Most likely, Thomas Belding/Belden Rockwell was born in Greene County, and possibly... has ties in Westchester County in the Salem, or South Salem area. At this point I am not able to find a source for Thos. B's birth, but I disagree with the Tuttle account, as Thomas, the father, is found in the 1800 Greene County census living "next door" to Beldings, Dans, and Tuttles. By way of Hammond, he settled in Stockbridge in 1813. Thomas Belding/Belden Rockwell was born in 1802 - the son of Thomas and Mary Jemima (Dunham) Rockwell. 3. Check that... at the end of all that I said Thomas Belding R. was the son of Thomas and Mary Jemima (Dunham) Rockwell - that's wrong - he was the son of Thos. and Hannah (Tymeson) Rockwell - her father was Garrett Tymeson, thus Garrett Rockwell, my great grandfather.
