    1. MICHAEL DUNN and surviving Dunns in the Oneida Lenox area
    2. (mailto:NYMADISO-L@rootsweb.com) I'm looking for any descendants of MICHAEL J. DUNN bn. abt. Nov. 1857 in N.Y. His parents were JOHN DUNN of Ireland bn. abt. 1827 and Lidia of England bn. abt. 1832. John Dunn and family lived in Oneida Castle in 1860 census. The 1865 Madison co. census showed Lidia Dunn living with her children in Oneida. Info from living family members say that John Dunn had accidentally drowned and she had moved to Oneida and rented rooms. In 1870 census Lidia Dunn has married William J. Knowles and they have a daughter Elizabeth bn. Dec. 1869 (my husband's G. Grandmother.) Daughter Elizabeth is adopted out to Reuben and Mary Gordon after Lidia's death. Baptism at St. Patrick's list the mother as Elizabeth Knowles and father William J. Knowles. (Mother is not given as Lidia). Lidia reportedly died around 1874 and Willliam J. Knowles left the family taking one son William Albert Knowles with him (his son by a previous marriage to Ada Wood). William Albert was taken by his father to Wampsville where he is left in the care of a hat weaver. There his money and mother's bible is stolen and he runs away. Even in his final years with a stroke William Albert cannot draw his railroad pension because he doesn't even know where he was born or the name of his mother. After years of research I finally find Lidia and John Dunn's son Michael and his family. Michael has married and named his children after his brothers and sisters and a daughter after his mother. Michael has remained in the area where he lived with his mother. He is living on Broad St. in Oneida (Lenox) in 1900 census. Michael bn. July 1857 in N.Y marries Elizabeth. Their children are:: Lidia A. bn. Nov. 1882 ( named for his mother) Frank son bn. Sept. 1884 Mary, daughter bn. June 1887 John bn. Appr. 1889 Leo bn. Feb. 1893 Margaret bn. June 1899 I believe there are living descendants of this family still living in the same area. If so I would very much like to hear from them. Perhaps, they could fill in some of the gaps especially about where Lidia was buried and when and further information of William J. Knowles. Anyone having any info on this family, please write. I know the number of Dunn's in New York make it difficult to trace the family but since I have been able to advance two generations it gives me hope. Thanks for any help. Phyllis
