..my health is not good, I don't think I could be depended on, on a regular schedule of any kind. BUT, I saw a new doctor this week, and if we can get me into 'remission of symptoms,' I would volunteer to help. I'll let you know later in the year. Just so you know, and it's no big secret, I have a condition called fibromyalgia, complicated by some other little things, like diabetes. ...I love this website, you all are so cool.....Loo, of the Rockwell line/Albuquerque ----- Original Message ----- From: Tim Stowell Sent: Friday, February 18, 2005 11:43 PM To: NYMADISO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NYMADISO] update of sorts 2/19/05 - call for volunteers Chenango County: continuing work on Fairview cemetery - 3 sections left formatting Sherburne centennial material formatting 1860 census for Bainbridge ======================= Cortland County: continuing work on 1850 census alpha listing - 6 letters left formatting work on Cortland history ======================= Madison County: proofing/coding Hillside cemetery proofing/coding Oneida Presbyterian Church 1894 history transcribing New Woodstock history =========================================== Under the title that many hands make light work - as I've acquired a better way to get material out quicker to transcribers - I'm wondering if it would be of use to let you folks know by county what I'd like to have transcribers work on - what you could choose from? At present I have: Cortland - 2 active transcribers (James Knapp, asst CC as one of them) Chenango - 2 active transcribers (Elaine Decker, Mary Hafler) Madison - 3 transcribers (Pam Beger, plus 2 whom I've not heard from in a long, long time) Now to be fair there are others of you who have volunteered in the past, but I'd like to get a new group together and start fresh. I have waiting in the wings books (full or partial) for: Chenango - 5 (3 which just need coding) (1 in progress) Cortland - 10 (1 now being transcribed by James Knapp) (1 in progress) Madison - 11 (2 which just need coding) (3 in progress) These books / publications run from just a few pages to several hundred. Now I can with a couple of people helping eventually get these online - but the more the better / quicker it will be done. For those wondering what's involved - I would send you scanned pages of a section or chapter of a book, first a sample page to make sure you get it ok and can read it to transcribe from. If you could, then the section/chapter would be sent to you page by page. You would type up the selection and send me back a copy of your transcription. This could be in the form of a Word document, text, rich text format, some sort of word processing program. No need for you to worry about fancy type, italicized words, text size for I'd adjust that in the proofing / coding phase for my HTML editor strips out most of the formatting that word processing programs put in. I'd proof and format the material and place it online, giving you credit for the transcription. Interested parties please contact me.
