    3. Here is a link to my website which will show the NYS census availability for all of the counties. If you see one listed it can be seen at the NYS Library in Albany, most are now at the Onondaga County Public Library in Syracuse, and of course LDS in Salt Lake City and through them at a Family History Center at a Mormon church near you, through their very reasonably priced microfilm rental program. Oh, and by the way, the original books or photocopies of them can usually be accessed in-person at the County Clerk's Office in the county of interest. They are still required by law to retain them. The NYS Library does NOT send them out through inter-library loan. 3. The original books in Madison Co. cannot be accessed by the public. They were removed from the county clerk's office by the county historian because of their poor condition. In the county itself, some of the federal census are available at various public libraries on microfilm. All Madison Co. census from 1810 through 1920, including the state census, are on microfilm at the Madison Co. Historical Soc. in Oneida.
