Hi everybody. Recently, my friend Doris posted some info. from Pioneers of Madison Co., by William Tuttle. Over the years, I've heard some professional-type genealogists complain about Tuttle, saying mainly that he didn't cite his sources. That's true and he often made spelling errors, especially in names, such as Cable for Caleb and adding an "e" on Benjamin. But I'd like to tell you how he just helped me. I had an article from an 1854 newspaper talking about someone visiting at Clarkville, within six miles of Peterboro. I knew Clarkville was an earlier name for Brookfield which is sure more than six miles from Peterboro. Then I realized that the person was staying with N. S. Cady. I went to Tuttle and found lots of info. on Nathan Stanton Cady of CLOCKVILLE. Should have realized it was Clockville! Guess what I'm saying is Madison Co. is lucky to have the Tuttle book. At least it's a starting point. Donna B.
