    1. update 4/29/2005 - addendum
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. I originally had more with the note below but removed it. What I removed was a statement regarding what was written in the history of Afton. It asked that you be tolerant to the transcriber and myself for we were only reporting what the author of 125 years ago stated as his opinion and/or fellow contributors to that work regarding the Mormons. Often when folks see things in print that they may find offensive to their heritage or religion they forget that we/me are reporters only for material as found. I rarely edit such texts, mostly letting even typos go through, unless the typo changes the meaning of the passage. There will always be people who are against other folks heritage, religion either out of ignorance or personal attitudes toward such. I can't help that. What I can do and try to do is be sensitive to others, while presenting the material as found, whether or not I agree with either the text or those offended by such. In other words I prefer to be neutral. ====================== Chenango County - 1880 History - Town of Afton - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/1880-16.htm How Afton got it's name; a couple of pages of text at the end of Stowel(l) involvement with Joseph Smith and the Mormon movement and the 1880's author's thoughts about such. ======================= Regarding my health - arm chair doctors have mused that I have gall bladder trouble, kidney stones, heart issues - as long as I can hobble about I'll do so. :) Tim
