I've been reading with interest the thread on Indian Relics" which has gotten quite a bit off track for a forum on Madison County Genealogy. The internet is vast, and there are far better sources for such information, including calling the local auction house if $$ is what you are after, or the local university if you want information. I just need to pipe in with one thing, though. Someone wrote that the NAGPRA laws and other such laws that protect cultural artifacts "are the products of political correctness" which is purely false. It is a massive response to hundreds of years of disrespect for our fellow man. There were few arguments against the basis of the laws and the need for them, and the only heat was over implementation. To say that it was simply a leftist plot or some other sort of conspiracy shows that you know nothing of the subject. yes, there were splits down the party line, as usual, but one side wanted to save a few bucks, the other wanted to spend a few bucks to do the right thing. You may have already guessed that I prefer that we do the right thing. Lets keep the forum on-topic, and if we need to stray its OK to stray a bit, but lets be adults about it and exercise some self-control and self-governance. Thanks Dan. Sorry I'd not realized this discussion or topic was going so off base. I would like to ask one question though regarding your tag-line. Were the Iroquois part of the Algonquin people group? Tim
The biography section on the site got rather large, so I've started grouping these same surnames now by regions. Following is the url for the Madison County bios and photo-sketches, at a glance. http://darcisplace.com/darci/madison.htm Darci
