Hello listers, I went to eh Fultonhistory site and found a mention of my family which is listed as on a page of a newspaper. How do I find the article that I want? The page was very confusing to me. Mary Kay
Hi Mary Kay: This site takes a little playiing with, but it is easy. Take the name you are researching, say "Mary Kay Mullen" and put it in quotes over on the side. Hit search. It should bring up every page that has that on it. If you aren't sure of the spelling, hit the fuzzy search, say about #3--I find that is far enough. If you are sure of the spelling you don't have to use that--altho not all people could spell correctly--not even people that worked for the newspaper When you get the list that shows all the pages, go through and look at the name of the paper, and year, and choose one that fits your family. Click on it, and it will bring up the page it is on. Now you have to do the work--Go though that page until you find the reference you are looking for, and hit print, then click on "current view", and it will only print the area you are looking at--not the whole page. Once you have gotten what you want printed, taken an extra moment and go to the top of the page on the computer and write the name of the newspaper and the date. That will save you time later when you wished you had done that. Like I said--you have to play with this site until you are comfortable with it. There is so much you can do, and I certainly cannot use all of its features, such as boolean searching. That is just beyond me. If you have any trouble, drop me a line and tell me the name you want, and the area, time frame, and I'll see what I can do to help.
