In the 1880 census There is a James Brown and Mary Brown, Hired Hand and domestic servant, respectively who lived with Betsey, Adelbert and Arad Howard in the county of Madison, town of Nelson. He was 25 yo and Mary was 22 yo. They had a child of 3 named Armenia (f) at that time. This census was taken on the 5th day of June 1880. It indicates that Mary's mother was born in Michigan but all of the other parents and Mary and LeRoy were born in NY. Probably this could easily be your LeRoy as yet I can't hook him up to one of my Browns but I will check out the 1860 Census.
