Hello, Listers, In case any of you are close enough or plan to visit here, I just wanted to call your attention to the displays of historical interest in the lobby of the Madsion County Office Bldg in Wampsville. Cince the new county Historian has taken over, there seems to be a renewed interest in making the office bldg "a place to visit", as well as to transact business. Right now they have an exhibit of old "stampless" letters and documents. Yesterday I stopped in to see it, and the big billboard-like posters with pictures of County places and people of interest. The "stampless mailings" are some of those same forgotten documents being dug out of the basement. One of the volunteers, Mr. Betz, was on hand to explain them, and how they are being copied and preserved. The old method of mailing these documents is in stark contrast to the present "Faxing" and the digital methods of copying, photographing, cataloging and preserving them in a way to make them available for use by the public. Going through those basement boxes is a tremendous job, but is getting done, with the County Clerk, County Historian, and their volunteers cooperating. Chas Incidentally, they were serving refreshments yesterday. (I picked the right day) No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG.
