    3. Hi gang and Happy Fourth of July. Isn't it wonderful to be in the land of the FREE? This is to my Payne cousins. Just recently I ran across a person listed in her information that my grandmother May A. Payne ( Beebe) daughter of Truman and Olive Payne) of W. Eaton, had been married to a ? Wetmore. Is there any way I can confirm this? It would be most interesting to be able to find out more. I do know that Grandma May was married to my grandfather on Dec. 18, 1890. I have a little blurb about her wedding that someone was kind enough to send me. I would love to get my hands on her marriage certificate if possible. If you wish rather than go through the list contact me at my private e-mail. [email protected] Hope to hear from some of my cousins. Thanks in advance. Joan Beebe Meddaugh granddaughter of Will L. Beebe of Earlville and May A. Payne Beebe formerly of W. Eaton, NY. ____________________________________________________________ Are you safe? 3. Hi Joan, I made a quick search of the census records for May Wetmore, to test the theory that your grandmother may have been married to a Wetmore before marrying your grandfather. There is no evidence that this was the case. In 1880 your grandmother, age 10, was living in Eaton with her widowed mother and older brother Willis, age 25. So she was about 20 when she married your grandfather. I suppose it is possible that in the late 1880's she could have had a brief marriage to a Wetmore before marrying your grandfather, but retained or returned to her maiden name. However, I did find another May A. Payne, born 1871, in New Berlin, Chenango Co.,NY. Since she's almost same age and name of your grandmother, maybe she's the one who married a Wetmore?
