    3. I think you need to see what records are available for the area your ancestors were at. Also you could check with the church headquarters. In Cortland co., NY where the village of Scott was settled by SDB, the church records are at the Cortland County Historical Society. There was a lot of interaction between this group and the Madison Co. SDB. Many Madison Co. SDB members are mentioned in those records. It is a good idea to check the Scott records as you just may find mention of the madison Co. people. I have not found any centralization of all the records so it is searching here and there. I believe there was a failed SDB settlement in Niles, Cayuga Co., NY area. I had a Hall line that was there and on the surrounding lots are many SDB names and it appears they settled the area at the same time which was a commiojn SDB practise. They would send out several families to settle a new area. It is said they crossed the continent this way in a few short years. An ancestor, Benajah Hall (Jr.) I have seen mentioned (when in the Albany area after leaving Washington Co., RI) as a minister of that church. But later the family "left" the SDB and no record in Cayuga Co. or anywhere I can find mentions this failed settlement. SDB church's present records seem not to have many older lists of ministers, members, etc. The Scott, NY settlement records mentions the people in Niles and how they rescued them from starvation by crossing a frozen Skaneatlas Lake up and down some of the steepest inclines I have ever seen (even today) a track/road and through very deep snow and drifts for miles to the rescue. It is an amazing story. At least this one church's entire records have been saved and are available. I do not know what others may be. So it can be frustrating trying to find info but the SDB list does have people that are helpful. Just do not forget to check other SDB churches in the vicinity where your ancestors settled. Sharon
