    3. .tiff files are a type of photo file,. Much like a jpg or jpeg Right click the .tiff file and select a photo viewing software to look at them before tossing them. Also, it is quite possible your computer automatically backs up all of your files. To check that I would use your finder for a file that you want to keep and see if you have multiple copies of it. Can't say I know what a dat file is, except to say it is a data file. Anytime I open a document/file and use the incorrect software I either get a gobblety-gook of stuff or it tells me the file cannot be opened with the software I've selected.
