    1. [NYMADISO] 1890 Census
    2. Donna Burdick
    3. Does anyone know if the 1890 Surviving Soldiers, Sailors, Widows, etc. Census has been made available, such as on Ancestry? A number of yrs. ago, I went to the Steele Memorial Library in Elmira, NY, where I found this census on microfilm - at least for NYS. I transcribed all the entries for the Town of Smithfield. Now I'd like to find out if a man named JOHN HALL is listed in the Town of Fenner or possibly elsewhere in Madison County. The particular man I'm interested in was an African American and a member of the 26th Regt. United States Colored Troops, He died on Sept. 26, 1890 and is buried at Peterboro. There is no age on his stone. Donna Burdick Smithfield Town Historian
