    1. Re: [NYMADISO] organizational problem help please
    2. Thanks guys and gals for your in put. My biggest problem is where in the line up do I merge with my husbands family? Here is an example of how I have organized my direct Beebe line not including my mothers maiden name of Schwartz. I will begin with my father's direct line ending with me before my marriage. BEEBE LINE 1.Beginning with John b. 1600, his wife Rebecca 2. Samuel b. 1633 wife Mary 3. William b. 1665 don't remember his wife 4. Ezekiel. b. ? 5. Zadock I 6. Zadock II 7. Cyrus husband of Rhoda Chesebro and later her sister after she died 8. Judson L. husband of Susan Blanding 9. Hiram J. husband of Ellen Amelia Hills 10 Will L. husband of May A. Payne and Anna Personeous 11.C. Arthur Beebe husband of Dorcas Schwartz. ( see below daughter Dorcas child of David and Nora Schwartz) 12 Joan Beebe ___________________________________________________________________________________________ This is my mother's line Schwartz Wheeler/Ryan ________________________________________________________________________________________ John husband of Mary Patrick husband of Catherine David L. (child of above) Nora (child of above) _____________________________________________________________________________________ SCHWARTZ Marriage of WHEELER David L. Nora ________________________________________________________________________________________ Their Child Dorcas Schwartz _____________________________________________________________________________________ BEEBE Marriage of SCHWARTZ Arthur Beebe Dorcas Schwartz __________________________________________________________________________________________ Their Child Joan Beebe _____________________________________________________________________________________-_____ MEDDAUGH Marriage BEEBE Larry Meddaugh Joan Beebe _________________________________________________________________________________________ Their Children James Meddaugh ( married) Kirstie Brown ( Three children John, Matt, Kayla) __________________________________________________________________________________________ Ami Meddaugh single ___________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________ This is my hubands line on the Meddaugh side Starting with George Meddaugh who changed the spelling from Middag to Meddaugh. George, ?? Peter- Nancy H. this line is Hallioway or some spelling like that PC- Velma Legg Frank- Ethel Jackson The Jackson line is Bower, Reed etc. Elmer-- Evelyn Green The Green line is Jennings, Wells etc. Larry - Joan Beebe ________________ __Here is the problem. where in the family line do I put Larry's parents? I know where Larry and I go which isright after my maiden name book but where do I start Larry's family? Do I do the following? right after Larry's and my book put his parents? Then what is the line up for his grandparents on his mother's side? Do I just follow the surname line all the way back or what, and drop the maiden name to another shelf and put a stickie note that says, see red note book or what? If some of you could put this in some order for me it would be greatly appreciated. If you do, put in CAPS what you have moved and leave in lower case those you haven't. Well if this hasn't confused you by now. Nothing will. So long and thanks. A very comfused me. ---------- Original Message ---------- From: Elisa Tobia <etobia@stny.rr.com> To: nymadiso@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYMADISO] organizational problem help please Date: Sun, 22 Aug 2010 10:08:22 -0400 Hi Joan, I read, with great interest, your organizational process. I sure did get confused with the colors yet at the same time I find the color coding a useful tool for quick reference. The genealogy records that were passed on to me uses a numbering system that is similar to my computers genealogy software. It categorizes by last name in alphabetical order and then the index # at the end. Seems to me it might work well as a table of contents or index to your notebooks. It looks like this: DEMAY Bradley Steven (1983 - ) (4) 1.5.2.2 Caitlin (1985 - ) (4) 1.5.2.1 Steven Robert (1954 - ) spouse of (3) 1.5.2 FERGUSON Kathryn (1952 - ) spouse of (3) 1.5.1 HALL Hallie Mae (1898 - ) spouse of (1) 1 LUTERAN Ronald (1955 - ) spouse of (3) 1.5.4 ORR Daniel Watson (1898 - 1979) (1) 1 TOBIA Joseph (1957 - ) spouse of (3) 1.5.3 Nam Jong Kwon/Matthew Joseph (1991 - ) (4) 1.5.3.2 Sang Hee Jeon/Christine Marie (1987 - ) (4) 1.5.3.1 TORNATORE Barbara (1932 - ) (2) 1.5 Bethany (4) 1.5.1.1 Carol (1955 - ) (3) 1.5.2 Elisa (1959 - ) (3) 1.5.3 Elizabeth Jane (1959 - ) (3) 1.5.4 Kimberly (1984 - ) (4) 1.5.1.2 Marcus (1987 - ) (4) 1.5.1.3 Michael Alexander (1926 - ) spouse of (2) 1.5 Paul (1952 - ) (3) 1.5.1 On Aug 22, 2010, at 9:34 AM, cepage1 wrote: > Hi, Joan, > I had the same problems. 2. Elisa Tobia
    3. Joan, I would have the notebook of your husbands family of origin (and your family of origin) just before you and your husbands notebook. I would then include his siblings, their marriages and the "allied families" to each of the family of origin notebooks. That is just how I would do it. A problem I'm running into is the desire to publish for family use all of my families and allied families and deciding how to publish all of it for my parents and their children going back numerous generations as well as forward three generations since my parents marriage. Additionally, I have two relatives (second cousins) who married so there are overlapping relatives too. Any thoughts folks on how to organize chapters/folders if information for publication?
