Hi Mike Have you contacted the Church to see if they have any Church records available? If you have a great deal of requests for your family you might want to send a Snail Mail letter and give them ample time to lookup the informtion and reply (as normally work is done by volunteers). I personally over many years of research have found old church records to be very helpful in finding the people I am looking for and also locating other family members and ties. It has proved to be one of the most helpfu resourses available.l Some church records will give you the Date of Baptism but in other records one can find both the DOB and Baptism dates. Further research will often show M records and/or D records for your Ancestor. Or perhaps they can tell you if the Madison County Historical Society might have the early records. Chittenango Station Free Methodist Church Chittenango, NY 13037 <http://www.getfave.com/locations/ny/z/13037> (315) 687-6230 Madison County Historical Society 435 Main Street Oneida, NY 13421 Monday - Friday 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. You might also want to contact the Town or Village Clerk to see if there is a Burial Permit available. I would suggest giving them a DOD or at least an approx. DOD and request the cost of your inquiry at the onset. You can also ask the Historical Society if they have Microfilms of Newspapers that include Vitals for the area. If not you can always order at your Main Library (where you live) Microfilms of these early Newspaper from the New York State Newspaper Project. That URL is : http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/nysnp/nygcty.htm Remember there are some newspaper sites online but they are only gleanings of what is available and many of these other newspaper articles have not been put online and probably will not be for a number of years.
