    3. For what it is worth, my luck with churches has been almost non existent with regard to a search for my father's baptismal record. Occasionally, one gets a reply of "nothing to report" but most of the time, it is a non reply one gets. In my most recent attempt in looking for my father's record, Heinrich Köpke or Henry Kapke, I wrote to a church near Alexander street in Albany where they lived according to the Albany directory. My search in city directories for the family between 1885 and 1890, after many years of searching, found the family in a directory for Albany dated, 1886 and 1887 under the wrong spelling of Kop he. I haven't been able to find him again until 1889 in a Madison Directory under Kophe. I still haven 't found the family in 1888, the year he was born. In Madison, the address was recorded on 42 Sherman Street. I have been unsuccessful in finding what church would have been near that address at that time. The one church I have been given, didn't start until long after his birth. Over the years, I have written to the church in Hartford Ct. where they attended, and never got an answer. I wrote to the Missouri Synod, no answer. I am convinced that he is there somewhere, but that it is under a misspelling. If you can't get an answer, you are not going to get the information. My work with churches has been very consistent. Nothing. 2. The Free Methodist Church used to be where Crossroads Church is now on Fyler Road in Chittenango Station. I don't know if the Pastor of Crossroads would have the records from the Free Methodist Church but he may be able to help you. His name is Rev. Michael Keville. When we were in High School, he was just "Mickey"! The phone number is 315-687-7625 Hope this helps, Carol ---- Dorothea Sanderson <ebenordms@tds.net> wrote: > For what it is worth, my luck with churches has been almost non > existent with regard to a search for my father's baptismal > record.
