For years, I have been stuck on a man who married two sisters in my family. His name was Nathan Peck, and he married Phebe Tompkins in 1826 in Madison, and then after she died in 1832, he married her younger sister, Mary Tompkins in 1839 in Hamilton. My problem is finding his parents, birthdate and birth location. I finally got what seems like a reasonable lead, when I learned that he named his and Mary's youngest son, born in 1854, Joseph B. Peck, and then found that there was a Joseph B. Peck in the Town of Nelson in all censuses between 1810 - 1850. My theory is that the elder Joseph B. Peck died in the early 1850s and his son Nathan named his next child after his father. I'm hopeful that the Joseph B. Peck who lived in Nelson is connected to someone on this list who could verify for me whether (or not) he had a son named Nathan who married two of the Tompkins girls. Or, barring that good luck, I'm hoping that someone on this list will at least be able to point me in the direction of some good resources on the Peck family of Madison County, since I haven't really been able to find much on them in my research. Any takers? Your input would be most appreciated. Mary Mary Hunt E-mail: muvsgenealogy@comcast.net
