I was going to mention what Chas has said here. I think the district schools were known by various names in the towns. For example, District #11 in Smithfield, which later became District #5, was called by the name of the area where it was located--Pleasant Valley. Then there were such places as Bliss Corners, Mile Strip school, etc., etc. Donna ----- Original Message ----- From: "cepage1" <cepage1@verizon.net> To: <nymadiso@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 05, 2010 9:34 AM Subject: [NYMADISO] grade schools >I believe the 1875 Atlas shows school district numbers, but at that time it >was Town of Lenox.
