From some old genealogy notes I was recently given. I have more information on the Keene family mentioned, also there is a picture of Hannah if anyone is interested in a scan. The Oneida Dispatch, Friday, Nov. 12, 1915 Mrs. John W. Maine. Death of the First White Woman born in Oneida. Clockville, Nov. 11 - Hannah Morris Maine, the beloved wife of John W. Maine, entered into rest on the beautiful Sabbath morning of Nov. 7 at 11:30 at the family home in Clockville. She was the oldest daughter of John and Nancy Adle Morris and was the first white girl born in the village (now city) of Oneida, being 76 years and ten days old at the time of her death. Dec. 11, 1865, she was united in marriage with John W. Maine so that they had passed nearly sixty years of maried life together. Death was due to kidney and heart trouble, causing great suffering which was borne with Christian fortitude. Deceased was a member of the Clockville church, a devoted wife and mother, and will be missed by a wide circle of friends. Besides her husband she is survived by five children, Avery M., Mrs. F. A. Miller and Prescott D., of Clockville; Mrs. J. C. Harrington of Syracuse and Mrs. F. A. Keene of Oneida Castle; also one sister, Mrs. James Cramer of Utica. Funeral services were held from the family home at 2 p. m. on Wednesday, Rev. Wallace E. Brown, D.D., of Syracuse officiating, and burial was made in the family plot in Clockville cemetery. Beautiful floral tributes were mute tokens of [lov]e for the departed one.
