Oops! Just realized that my fingers got carried away. It is the 2010 Census not 2020 Pat R
Hi Fellow Listers I'm not sure what is happening with my replies to nymadiso@rootsweb Mailing List, but for some reason they are not getting posted. Yesterday I again sent a reply (a 2nd reply) giving the following website url for everyone to review, This website will anawer all questions about the 2010 Census and it also tells you about the myths that are being spread. It clarifies all the questions people ask.. 2010.census.gov/ On the Left side it gives a Listing of all the catagories included (but I would suggest reading them all to be totally informed). It is also helpful to read the Directors Blog for addition input. I am currently working as a temporary Federal employee for the 2010 Census Bureau and as required for all employee's taken the oath. All information will be saved (also explained) and is kept confidential for 72 years. After reading through this website you will realize that there is nothing to fear about the 2010 Census. There is only (1) Form and that is the Short Form and takes only a few minutes to complete. It also explains reasons for the Census (every 10 years since 1790) and the Law that requires us to participate. Enjoy Pat R
Here is another website that not only explains the 2010 Census but also states and explains all the Myths about this Census. There is a list of catagories on the Left side to choose from, but I suggest that you read the entire site for the facts and include the Directors Blog. It tells you about the first Census (1790) and the Laws regarding responding to the Census. It also states that you are obligated to respond (include entire household) to all 10 questions. This site should clarify any questions that you might have regarding the Census. http://2010.census.gov/ I currently work as a Temporary employee for the 2010 Federal Census and have been trained and sworn in under oath. There is nothing to fear about the Census. Pat R On Tue, Mar 16, 2010 at 11:03 PM, Teresa Culver <terryculver@embarqmail.com>wrote: > This is supposed to be the information age. I have found in families in the 1800's especially my husbands and mine that if an infant died in infancy then a subsequent child might have been named after the child that died. I know of at least two in our family that this occurred in. The children were born perhaps ten years apart.
I have it recorded that GG grandfather was HOLDEN "R." JAQUAYS - also on his death cerificate. Pat Could be that he was known by middle name, very common practice. Also, families repeated names if child died. My grandfather Joseph was 10th of 12 kids. Firstborn named Joseph had died at age 2. Both were named after their paternal grandfather. Another idea - did someone remarry or adopt a child. Tink At 08:57 AM 3/19/10, you wrote: >Thanks for the input on Peleg. Thanks for the input on Peleg. I have it as a first name for my Great Grandmothers father. Some names are really interesting as where they originated. And certainly the Bible would be a good beginning. Now for question #2 - can any one offer a logical explanation for the following? I have a picture that my grandmother labeled 4 generations of Jaquay. - Norris, Herbert, Samuel and Lionel. Now according to documents, and other data that Lionel should have read HOLDEN. Another kink in the link - Samuel's first son is listed as Lionel who died in infancy. Normally the first male child was named after father or grandfather. Yet here again, I have HOLDEN as Samuels father.................... I have no other Lionels in any of my listings! So I am baffled. Pat J.
Hi I sent the Census Information website for everyone with questions to review in my last email. That clarified the reasons and purpose of the Census and how it is used. This Census information is kept totally confidential and will not be released for 72 years (doubt if I will be here but my G Grandchildren will). I personally don't see any harm in responding to any of their short 10 questions. It only takes about 10 minutes.I also stated that I am presently working for the Census Bureau (having been sworn in) and would not want to see the County where I live overlooked when monies are given out. A bordering County to me, St Lawrence County New York SUNY colleges (one which I attended) suffered for the past 10 years financially because people failed to cooperate and return the info as requested in 2000. Hi I seem to recall that this was a male Hebrew name. It appears to be used frequently during the 1700's and early 1800's. I find it appearing in almost all of my family Surnames (abt 150) that I have worked on over the years.
