I used the back side of a roll of wallpaper one time in a pinch and it worked pretty good. 3. Guess I'm really primitive. I use(d) butcher paper and a charcoal stick, crayons work too. It was really the stones that dictated what could be rubbed. Hard stones could be rubbed but soft stones made of limestone for instance could not be rubbed. marilyn Donna Burdick wrote: > Thanks Tink > > I guess I'm really hesitant about ordering from places when I can't even > figure out if they are still in business. 3. Marilyn Yes I do believe we connected quite a while back......... but I have to admit I cannot recall how we resolved our info.!!! My line has much of the same background as you mentioned, England then America. As near as I can tell, and cannot get it for sure, my Jacques landed in RI and from there spread throughout the country. I believe that it was Henri (Henry) .................. the story is in the Ball reunion that Virginia Peterson has on line. She is a 3rd cousin and descendant from a Henry that married a Mary Roberts. And a Samuel of mine married Cornelia Roberts sister of Mary - thus our connection. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~taughannock/jaquay/balljaquay.html I am thinking that one of Henri's sons is my line. But I also feel brothers/cousins of Henri also came at about the same time. Therefore there were more Jaquays, and as they spread, few could write or spell so therefore a lot of the variations came about dure to phonetics. Just my thoughts. Through Robert Hoffman I was able to get information on the Jaquay(s) of my line that moved further west. Do you recall how we may or may not have connected? Sorry to be so forgetful. Pat J.

    3. Hello Patricia, This is off your topic, I believe you and I exchanged emails before, but I can not remember if I asked you if in your Jaquay family lore you ever heard that the Jaquay's, Jaqua's [various sp.] and Jacock, Jacox, Jaycox are all the same family root. Ostensibly the Jaycox name comes from family members being J's cooks, Knights cooks. They originated in France or Belgium I understand and emigrated to England, then to America. I can't tell for sure if they settled in Va. and moved up to N.Y. or visa versa. Just thought I'd run that past you. Thanks for listening! marilyn Patricia Jaquay wrote: > Tink - > > The child (Norris) in the picture was born 1894- his father Herbert was born 1867 - Herberts father Samuel was born 1832 - Samuels father Holden was born 1810........... 3. I made a cursory check on Ancestry.com for Lionel Jaquay and Holden Lionel Jaquay, but it didn't find it anywhere in their databases. I did find an H.R. Jaquay, age 40, on the 1935 Florida census - living in Jacksonville, Ward 10-A in Duval County, at 2036 Post St. He was born in NY, has a college degree, is single, renting a room from a widow named Alma Watts, and he is an insurance agent. There is a couple named Berry also renting a room in the house. HR also appears on the 1930 US census, residing in same place with wife Sarah. His name is given as Herbert R., born about 1871. You didn't mention any date ranges for the Herbert in your photo, but I thought perhaps there is a connection. 3. Did Holden R. have a brother or uncle named Herbert? Could this be a collateral line of the family? Tink At 09:54 AM 3/19/10, you wrote: >I have it recorded that GG grandfather was HOLDEN "R." 3. Hi Donna, According to Peoplepc.com website, they offer their basic "Unlimited" internet service for $10.95/mo. They also have a special for new subscribers to that service of $5.47/mo for the first 3 mos. They do offer a higher level of service called Security Plus for $15.95/mo. Perhaps your neighbors could meet their needs with the basic "Unlimited" service? It includes a lot of benefits like Symantec virus checker, but it runs a little slower than the other service. Anyone interested in the special offer needs to provide the Offer Code given on the website, just below the blue box on the bottom left of their home page. Be sure to check their list of dial-up numbers for your area. Otherwise you might end up accumulating local phone charges on top of their monthly charge. 2. We have to look at both sides of census taking. If it was as detailed as many of you want, I believe that s majority of people would not complete it and send it back to the government so the real purpose of census taking would be fulfilled. Yes, I agree that it would be great to have this additional information it is not feasible and would defeat the purpose. In a message dated 3/25/2010 3:15:34 A.M. Well after filling in mine tonight all my future lookers are going to be sure of is I am not Latin and how many people live in my house. Nothing about where I was born or if I am a citizen so when it came to race I put in American, Swiss, German, English just so its there. I am proud of that heritage - and I know the authors of this thing are not concerned. They just want those numbers so they can plan their political agenda. ------------------------------ To contact the NYMADISO list administrator, send an email to NYMADISO-admin@rootsweb.com.
