HI Tim, Michael Mullen is my husband's gr-grand uncle. Born in Ireland, married in Rock County, Wisconsin and moved to MN and raised a family of 7 boys. From the history of Campbell twp he was active in the politics of the area. He was active in the GAR in St. Paul when he died at 93 in 1937. Any connection in your family? Mary Kay
Mary, Yes, we have a picture of it from 10 miles away, huge. It went near one BIL's house. It destroyed one farm in ND and one in MN. The people in MN were thinking of moving to town - now they have to. What was your husband's gr-grand uncle's name? It's been a busy year with life - so not much genealogy of dead people. Family building has been my way of life this year. Hi Marenna, I found 2 Othniel Brown's on the NE site, one born in Providence 1706, died in Gloucester 1755. He did have a son by the same name, another record shows a Othniel born 20 April 1759 in Gloucester. Could this be who you are looking for? From a purely civil record retention standpoint, the dates are to early for a town/county to record them except for the brief period around 1847-49. The Church the couples were married in is the most likely source for any record. Local papers may have printed an announcement if the people involved were prominent in the community. Private collections (family records) may be the only place these exist since the Reverend who performed the ceremony often gave the couple a Marriage Certificate. If a JP performed the ceremony his private records maybe part of the town record where the event took place Sincerely, Rick Porter > Does anyone know if any marriage records exist for the Eaton area for the > first half of 1800's? > > Looking for a marriage for a Rachael Newell who was living in the Boston > area in 1857. Does anyone know if any marriage records exist for the Eaton area for the first half of 1800's? Looking for a marriage for a Rachael Newell who was living in the Boston area in 1857. The Aaron Polly Tidd Newell family are in Eaton in 1810 through about 1850. Thanks, Jack
Thanks -- I have found some -- none of them the right man. Hi Virgina, Ancestry.com has a few parts of the NY State censuses. Copies of various portions also exist in a wide array of places. Most of the copies at the NY State Library were destroyed by a fire in 1911. Here's Ancestry's explanation, extracted from Red Book: "Most of the surviving schedules can be found with the county clerk(s), while others may be in the custody of the county historian(s). Microfilmed copies of the censuses can be found in other libraries, repositories, and institutions, such as the Library of the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society and the Family History Library." Currently Ancestry's database includes the following counties: 1880 (approx. 27,600 records): * Rockland 1892 (approx. 364,000 records): * Broome * Chautaugua * Essex * Herkimer * Lewis * Orleans * Rockland * Schoharie * Warren * Wayne 1905 (approx. 117,000 records): * Lewis * Orleans * Schoharie * Wayne Tink At 06:32 PM 8/4/10, you wrote: Isn't there also the 1892 NY state census available, which I think is on Ancestry?

When you said it's "all military," that's what I was going to mention to the person who said she didn't realize that any of the 1890 census had survived. I "think" that mainly the records of soldiers or their widows is what remains. But it also seems to me that certain portions of the actual 1890 Census was saved. Somewhere, I think I have a list of the states or portions of states that survived. Just can't remember WHERE the list is!!!! I have a copy of the Globe record, but they were unable to find a copy of the Dillon Record. 1888 data would have been collected in 1887. The library in Oneida was unable to find the Dillon directory of 1890. Dillon and Globe were two different publishers.
