In the 1860 census, there is a column, to the right, that is titled "Married In The Year"; does that mean the census year or the prior 12 months? Karl MacEachron Fresno CA

As apologies do the soul good, I'm offering one to Dan W. for it seems to me in retrospect that my note of 11/30 smack of one-upmanship - and that won't do. My apologies Dan - thank you for the good work you do in furthering Madison County research. Tim

Hi, List, Who was it that had an interest in the Leggett family, and had ancestors buried in the Leggett -Baker cemetery near Oneida. I seem to have lost your name and address. If you see this, would you please contact me? Thanks Chas

I don't remember if I sent an update or not, but I'm caught up with you now, as far as online material for that particular book. I'm trying to get several things done before the next holiday season, so I may not take the time to say I've updated such and such, so folks just visit the site every few days, if you wish, to see what may have changed. I'll work on keeping the 'new' and 'updated' notices up to date. FWIW, the search engine was reindexed over the weekend. It covers the site except for Mike's portion of the site, which has its own seperate search engine. I thought I had it once before, seems it got knocked off the page, so I re-added a Family Bibles section to the site. Tim

You will find long lists of Madison County's 1812 veterans on my Veterans web pages: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyccazen/Military/ I have lists of soldiers in several local regiments, 2nd and 129th NY which were raised out of Madison County and Central NY. I have recently learned that the original pay lists from which this data was compiled still exist, but have no idea where they are as yet (I worked from a collection of about a million index cards at the state library about a decade ago.) Does anyone know of Polly Beebe who married Prentis Stanbrough or Stanbro. Children born in the very early 1800's. Lived in many of the surrounding counties. Prentis had many relatives in Madison. Carl, Thanks very much for your suggestion. Is the NY Genealogy Guide a print publication that is a one time publication, or something different? I haven't heard about it before. Perhaps someone on the list can offer some suggestions on locating this resource. I will look into the roster of NY soldiers. I appreciate the help. Carol Boggs
Carol Boggs, In your search for your ancestor(s) in the War of 1812 try a search try War of 1812, roster of NY soldiers. You may have to pay for a report, because Ancestry.Com is everywhere. If your local library has a subscription for Ancestry Plus, you may find your answers for free. If you don't have a NY Genealogy Guide I would suggest you get hold of one, because they have many, many sites you might find useful. I am not sure where you can get one. If you know please let me know because I don't have one (I am in Ohio). Carl Kemery _cbcl60@aol.com_ (mailto:cbcl60@aol.com)
