    3. Hi, Listers, This is especially to Ed and Patty Congdon, if anyone else is interested it is for you too. In our paper a couple days ago was an obit for Robert L. Ward. He lived here in the town of Lenox (1924-2004). I have never proven a relationship to our Wards, allthough I think there may well be one. Maybe the name rings a bell with you. His wife was Betty Jane Gardner. He was raised by his mother, Rena, and stepfather, Francis Trexler. If you or anyone would like a copy of the obit, I'll scan it and emil it to you -off list. Chas

    1. My Wife Had A Dream (true story)
    2. indi opie
    3. Well... this was just told to me: My wife dreamed that she had a heart attack and died (How festive is that for a start?) Anyway, apparently she was dead for about 5 minutes and, in that time, met my mother... My mother gave her a message to give to me, regarding my 4th great grandfather, Moses. It turns out that he was the illegitimate son of so-and-so and so-and-so. My mother did give my wife their names, but my wife did not have a pen while she was dead... When my wife came back to life, apparently I was there, and my question to her, upon hearing this new "development", was: "What am I going to use as a source?"... 1. Erieville Cemetery Update
    2. Daniel H. Weiskotten
    3. Hello all: Since Tim is on the road I figured what better time to one-up him (just kidding) and announce that I have posted a new reading of the Erieville Cemetery in the Town of Nelson, Madison County. This reading is based on the work of Mike Marris in 2001, with comparison to the old 1915 list of interments. http://www.geocities.com/ofvoyager/ErievilleCemetery2001.htm There is now record of more than 1,500 people in this great cemetery and I am adding it to my massive data base of all known burials in Cazenovia, Fenner and Nelson (at least 15,000 names, in 60 cemeteries, most of which are posted on my web pages.) Go to my main page: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nyccazen/ Scroll down to the "What's New" link or to the Cemetery Transcripts link, and follow from there. Happy Holidays! Dan W.

    1. To each and every one of you...
    2. indi opie
    3. What is Christmas? Christmas is not a particular day, like December 25th, for instance. Hopefully, for you, it is a time when the family can come together with love and positive thoughts and feelings for the meeting at hand. It is a frame of mind and a message from the heart that says "I love you" with all the understanding of what love might be. Christmas is a magic word that means so many good things to so many different people, relaying its own special message about the lives we live. It is a phenomenom that evokes the best parts of all of us, with the intention of giving it all away. It is that part of our souls which considers the well being of our neighbors, relatives, and friends, regardless of who they are or where they may be. Christmas is certainly not about me... When I was a child, I lived in a place where the winters were cold and the snow flew free. I recall being bundled up in my impatience, just waiting for the "magic day" to come. But really, now that I am an older man, the important memories I treasure have replaced "what I got last year". Today, the memories I have of those days gone by have all to do with those wonderful people who put things in my life far more important than trains and radios and football suits and games and puzzles. Today, the most precious of gifts and memories I can recall is knowing... really knowing... that some very special people loved me, and raised me with only the best intentions. Today, I spend my time in a foreign land, so far away from what I once called home. Today, Christmas means love and hope, and yes, peace. Today, Christmas means believing that all of those wonderful people who have come and gone, and left their thumbprint in my heart, live in a place that is filled with love, peace, and hope. It means that we each will think and believe and feel what we will, and that nothing will ever take from us what we will grow to find tucked away within ourselves. Christmas is not a particular day, like December 25th, for instance... How could it be, when, in truth, each day that passes holds yet a new opportunity to love, to wish peace and hope, to remember a loved one, but most of all, to give of oneself? May the healing and hopeful power of love be found in you and yours on Christmas Day and every day. John __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! 3. Sitting here enjoying high-speed Internet at the motel in Bloomington, IL. 500 miles down about 700 to go. Got started about 4 hours later than we hoped but I was pooped when we got this far. Odd thing is that it started getting headlight time as early as 130 PM. I know it gets dark early here but really! 15 here, not too bad mainly because there doesn't seem to be much wind. Concerned about my car this PM, wondering if that rattling that's been around for a while is in fact my water pump :( Fortunately there is a dealer here, so worst case hopefully they can get me back on the road without too much hassle. I worked on web site work until about 4 this morning then had to call a halt before I finished the queries for Chenango, Cortland and Madison - which will have to wait until I return. It was nice this year though to start/finish Christmas shopping in 20 minutes. A new record for me. This was done because 2 big ticket items were already mostly taken care of. But I did have to "add" some trimmings. Anyways, I'll report in, when I have something else to impart. I did bring some material with me to work on - 10 days in MN indoors would be long without it. ------------------------------------------------------via webmail---- Tim Stowell tstowell@chattanooga.net

I have a membership to Godfrey Library, which is a lot cheaper than wasting gas going to the library--where we can never find a place to park. August 21, 1808, married December 31, 1829 to Caroline Hyatt. They were missionaries. She died Batavia, Illinois April 8, 1872, he died Batavia, Illinois May 20, 1884. There is a little more information on them if you are interested. Quite a bit on the family actually. I did not read all of it. Merry Christmas. Dorothy

    2. Hi Nana Which Green/Greene are you back with? Send me their names. Also note on your records that some of the Stilson Family moved from Madison to Oneida County with the Verona SDB Church Group. Would Betsey Miller"s (Elizabeth) father/brother possibly be Charles Miller? Do you know if she might of had a brother Wiliam? I do know that William was the son of Charles. Don Sanford at the Church Archives is elderly and of course they do not have a great deal of help (it is all Volunteer) and a great many requests are received, therefore it does take time to receive a reply. I doubt if they will be doing much research with the "Holidays" as much time will be taken up with Church Activities and Service's. Therefore you might have to wait longer than the first of the year. Have a Happy Holiday Pat R

    1. Christmas Weather
    2. charles page
    3. Hi, Listers, Christmas weather has hit Central NY. There was about 5 inches of snow in the backyard this morning when I went out to feed the birds. It was also 9 below zero with a wind chill of minus 23. I didn't sweat any as I cleaned off the bird feeders. It was a "real" minus 38 in Saranac Lake NY. My wife and I attended a Christmas party yesterday afternoon at my nephew's farm up in the Madison County hills near East Hamilton (near the Brookfield line). When we left home it was snowing and blowing and did so all day. It was doing the same when we headed home in the afternoon. Temp had been dropping and the roads were very slippery, especially going down the hills. On the way over, outside of Hamilton, I slid past one corner and went on to take the long way around. On the way back as it was getting toward dusk, we missed our turn back through Poolville to Hamilton, and had to devise another way back, finding a road out of Hubbardsville that I remembered that led back to Hamilton. We got home at just about dark, and the phone was ringing--my sister and nephew wondering if we got there ok, and why it took us so long. Ah, the joys of Madison County winters! I wouldn't give it up for anything, tho'. How about you, Joan, down there in Candor? Chas

    3. Hi Pat, My Green/Greene is Rhoda Green brother of your Luke. The Green I just came across was Hall Green, Jr.. He married one of John and Betsey (MILLER) Franklin's daughters. Sarah Franklin and Hall Green were married, Hall seems to be the son of Hall Green, Sr and Pamela Saunders. Hall Jr and wife had one daughter Rosealia Green who married Barma J. Stimson. I don't know anything about Betsey Miller's parents. I got the will of John Franklin's father William Franklin who died in Madison 1840. There was a a Miller listed who had done some work for the family and was being reimbursed. Thought it might be that man, but I have not been able to go anywhere with Miller. I guess you know that William Franklin was a SDB member.
