Does anyone know about this: "Do you have any info on the family candy business in Munnsville that used to make the most awesome ribbon candy ever? I remember going there as a kid and getting bags of this stuff - they used to call the broken pieces "bones" and we would get bags of "bones'. This would have been in the late 1950's- early 60's." Thanks, Tim

I don't KNOW what it means. It just says Missy Stilson the Greene Cousin. For all I know it could mean she WAS a Greene or she was FROM Greene.
Hi There was a Law established in 1847 in NYS that the school district would keep Vital Records. However after a few years (varies from town to town) they discontinued doing this. None of these records are available at the State Level (State Archives or Health Dept.)so one if they still exist would find them at the Village or Town level where the event occurred. Regards Pat R .
There was a short time between 1847 and 1849 when some towns kept vital records. Some of these are still with the towns, some have been transcribed by such groups as the Central NY Genealogical Society. These are NOT subject to the law that was passed in 1880 and should be made available to a researcher, although some town clerks may not realize this. Patty Condon, and others interested in the Ward family-- Clara Waldron Parmeter, daughter -in -law of Neva Ward Parmeter and Don Parmeter, died recently. I have the obit. I'll send the info it has in it, if you don't have it already, and to anyone interested. Chas
Hi, Listers, There was a question (from Mary Kay) if I was ok. Yes I am relatively ok. I have been talking to a few people off list, I have been working on another project lately that takes a lot of time, and I have been "half sick" since Christmas and so haven't felt like doing anything extra. Nothing serious. Thank you all for being concerned. I didn't get your message, Mary Kay, and couldn't find it in the archives. So would you try again. A while back I found that some of my messages were being screened out by my "over-enthusiastic" server trying to cut down on spam. Maybe that's what happened. If anyone asks me a question, I intend to answer all- in some way. if you expect an answer and don't get one very soon, please send it again. Best regards to all of you. Chas

Hi Kay. I'm new here. Charles has been helping me with the Ward and Suits. I just talked to him. He has a tummy bug that loves him and he hasn't been able to shake it. Hi listers, I emailed a request to Charles on 12-27 and have not heard from him. Does anyone know if things are ok with him? I usually see responses from him. Mary Kay
From the NYGenWeb state mailing list: The online version of _Hudson-Mohawk Genealogical and Family Memoirs_ has now been updated with another 330-odd pages from the second and third volumes. http://www.schenectadyhistory.org/families/hmgfm/ With almost 60% of the set completed, you may search more than 700 family entries from Albany, Columbia, Fulton, Green, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady and Washington Counties. Indexes for those counties and Schoharie and Warren are included. The series also has many references to other areas of New York and New England, so a search for Ovid or Herkimer or Chenango will turn up some relevant info. Hope there is something useful in there for you! Bob Sullivan ================== I've done a search for all three counties and got hits for all 3, including a great link for material I'm working on at the moment. Tim
