Does any body have access to the LDS Census on line for 1930? If they do, would you be willing to look up Candor, NY Tioga Co. for me Specifically Church St. that is if it can be found. Also let me know just how many pages is listed for the 1930 Census for Candor. The number that you would click on the district's listed is #7 for the village. If Church St. is listed it would be after Foundry St. which is page number 9 on the Census for 1930 that Ancestry. com has. I have tried my darndest to locate Church as have other's and evidently it's not listed. On page # 9 is listed Foundry St. and on that page you will find my back yard neighbors as follows The Chaffee's Scott the father, mother Anna, daughter Irene, son Herbert. Their neighbor's are the Hills and their neighbors are the Galpins, with Lloyd, Norman Georgia I think and at least two other's. Across the street are the Sylvestroes. Pete the father Mary the mother, Everett/ everyone called him re-Pete the son, sister Annette. Those are my neighbors closest to me on Foundry with the Chaffee family being my back yard neighbors. The families on Church St. during that time would have been Will Beebe father, Wife Anna Beebe. next door to them would have been my father Art Beebe, his wife Dorcas Beebe. On the side of my grandfather Will Beebe would have been the Ahart family, her name was Kit but I forget his. On the other side of my grandfather would have been my parents house Art and Dorcas Beebe and next to them, the only house left on that street was Leon and Ella Perham. Then there was a street called RR Avenue. That street did not go parallel with Church. Sure would appreciate the help. Joan
Has anyone ever heard of an Ella Shay, who had a son named Carlton? I have a handwritten note that gives Ella's maiden name as Tufford or Jufford. I can't read the writing. Ella evidently died in 1953 at age 75. Her mother was said to have been a Green from the town of Smithfield. In the 1917 Rural Directory for Madison Co., I did find a David Shay with a wife Ella. They had 6 children and lived in Canastota. This sounds like the correct Ella. I'd like to figure out how she is related to any family in Smithfield - Greens or otherwise. Donna B.
Hi Karl, Yes, I would love it if you would send it to me. Will's wife name in 1920 was May A. not Mary. What is weird is that in the 1930 census all other streets for the village of Candor are listed even the street that is directly behind Church which is Foundry. But there is nothing for Church street. There is RR avenue, Delray/ Deleware Ave. Owego St. Main Street which is two streets after Church. I have located every one else that I know that has lived in Candor pretty much in those same areas but when I went to find my parents and grandparents which is the same house that I lived in as a child there is nothing there no church st what so ever. It is not even listed in the other two districts which is 9 and 7 I think. Church St. has just vanished and with it about 12 or so families that lived there. If you have any suggestions or feel like being a detective I sure would appreciate your help. I am at a loss as to what to do next. I have even written to Ancestry 4 times asking for help. And all I get is click here and there and do this and that. but no help other wise. Joan in Candor, NY

Would someone that has access to the 1930 census for Tioga Co. Candor,NY please do a look up for me for the following. Arthur Beebe/ C. Arthur Beebe/wife Dorcas Beebe Church St. Candor, NY, Tioga Co. William/Will Beebe/ wife Anna Church St. Candor, NY Tioga Co. They are all located in the village of Candor but for the life of me I can't find Church St. I know they all lived there during that time but I can't find it. I grew up on that street so know that it existed and still does. I have check out the census for the village and for the other to areas listed I think it is district 7 and 9 there is no Church St. Am I blind or what? Joan Beebe Meddaugh Candor, NY Tioga Co.
I could not find the Beebe's you listed in the Tioga County census. I used Ancestry and I must be blind too. Dorothy
Sorry about that other message- Try this one: Seventh Day Baptist Center (608) 752-5055 3120 Kennedy Rd Janesville, WI 53545
Try this: Seventh Day Adventist Church (608) 758-1799 1805 Foster Ave Janesville, WI 53545
The 1930 census data, for my source, is in complete and does not show Beebe anywhere but I did find a Will Beebe in Candor for 1920 and his wife's name is Mary. There was no Arthur in Tioga Co. in 1920 or at least no record in my source. If you want the 1920 record for Will Beebe, please contact me direct and I will download it and send it to you. Karl MacEachron
Does anyone have an address and/or e-mail for the Seventh Day Baptist repository in Janesville, Wisconsin? Thanks, Donna
Chas: We haven't come across the name of Jessie, but are always interested to hear about other Lyon families, and especially when they are "characterss" and there are stories to tell about them! <grin>. Spencer K. Lyon's father was David T. Lyon, Spafford, who later moved to Lyon, MI. She was a neighbor of ours in the 1950's and was an interesting "character". We would have a couple of stories to tell about her. She was 80 or 90 years old and I think lived to hbe close to 100. She was not married and lived with her mother, who also lived to be around 100. Just wondering. It is very good, but again can we ever compare the Old Original in anything to the products we get today. Regards Pat R
Hi, Tim, Jean, and others, A friend of ours found a place in Glens Falls, NY that makes peanut butter-filled ribbon candy. This was about 2 years ago. He sent for 2 lbs. ($32,50). He said it did not have as much peanut butter filling as the old kind. And he spread additional peanut butter on it as he ate it. Hmmm. That , I think, was what made Carlon Candy so successful--they paid close attention as the ribbons came through to see that it was really well filled. No skimping on it. The result was soft and delicious ribbons that did not shatter as you ate it. The address where he purchase it was Boston Candy Kitchen- 21 Elm St.- Glens Falls, N.Y. 12810 They had a web site - www.bostoncandykitchen.com but I don't get anything when I put it in. Chas

Hi Peggy You might want to obtain their Marriage License and that would give the names of his parents, DOB and where. I remember a place called Williams Corners but I think it is in Madison County near Morrisville but it might not be the same place since Tn of Plainfield would be Otsego Co. I believe. But perhaps a local paper Archives (Morrisville Papers) would give more information in her Obit. You can get them inter Library Loan per the NY Newspaper Project http://www.nysl.nysed.gov/nysnp/ Regards Pat R
