My search for land records on LDS came up with NADA - I used Madison County, New York as an author; I have used this method for other MY counties and they list records produced by the county. What do I look under? Thanks. Karl MacEachron

John Rickard (poss. aka Johannes Rickert and John Richard) moved to Madison County from Montgomery on the tails of the Ehle and other Palantine families. John was born in 1773 and married Catherine Ehle, dau. of Peter Ehle. I have hit a brick wall on John; I can not find anything on his parents. "The Rickert Kindred" information, on John, is in error. If anyone has any information on John's parents, please let me know; I would be most appreciative as I have been beating my brains out for more than 2 years. Thanks. Karl MacEachron Fresno CA
I believe Tuttle in Pioneers of Madison County has it as being named after Myndert Wemple. Debbie S
Hi Tim I believe you will find that the village was formerly Wempsville New York Regards Pat R
I've been told that Wampsville's name used to be Swampsville. Can anyone point me in a direction to verify this and/or where the name Wampsville came from? Thanks, Tim

I am seeking information on an Edward WILCOX (1779-1869), who married an Anna Benjamin abt. 1807 in DeRuyter, Madison Co., New York. I do not know much about this family, other than they lived in Truxton, Cortland Co., New York during the 1820-1840 timeframe & were buried in the Old Burial Ground in DeRuyter. I believe that my 3G-grandfather, Schuyler WILCOX, was their son and was born abt. 1808. In 1820, Edward WILCOX has 2 sons & 5 daughters and Schuyler fits the age group. >From several of Schuyler's children's death certificates, they cite him as their father and his birthplace on all death certificates is listed as Truxton, Cortland Co., New York. Schuyler died in 1848, abt. age 40, well before Edward's death in 1869. All of Schuyler's children would have known their grandfather, especially if their father died at such an early age & their grandfather helped Schuyler's wife care for their children. Schuyler & his wife, Marilla PERRY, lived in Georgetown, which is not far from DeRuyter & Truxton. If any has information about this family & could assist me, it would be greatly appreciated! Would anyone know of the book of names relating to the early Palatines and the First Settlers in the Mohawk Valley - page 68, I think or where one can find what they called the Hunter list ? Looking for info on Johann Michael ITTICH, this name was later changed by some to EDICK- Thank you Peggy
