    3. I have one suggestion on this cemetery. The lady that kept the books for many years made unbeievable notations on the axtual records that have been of much assistance to me. Some things noted were maiden names, parent, some graves have 2 or 3 bodies in them and all these are nted..some surprises there! just all sort of stuff. I no longer have the contact info for her, ut perhaps someoe does? i think her last name was "Love"? You also might try the Onondaga list as in the several books of newspaper abstracts from Madison Co. newspapers that covered that time frame, she is not listed as having an obit., just the three marraiges of "Cameron's" I already sent you. Now in checking the 2 volumes of, "Pompey, our Town", there is this info you may not have.. I know you have the two online cemetery listings for Town of Pompey where Cameron's are buried, not sure if it includes; Rev. War soldiers Buried at Delphi Falls Baptist Ch. Cem.? Under, " Names of Pioneers Whose Names are In The Revolutionary Rolls, But Unidentified'.. "James Cameron. d. 7 Jul 1819 ae. 55 yrs. He was in several Boston regiments and also 1st regiment of Orange Co., NY. Probable as the name occurs in 1790 only in Queensbury, NY". Nothing else on Cameron in Town of Pompey books. Sharon

    3. Here is a newspaper abstract regarding her that I think may point you in the right direction. "Civilian" 1 Mar 1831 CAMERON, Robert of Fenner, m. at Nelson, 10 Feb 1831 by Rev. S.T. Mills to Miss Sarah ALLEN of Plymouth, PA. Now on the same day by same minister appearing in the same newspaper is the m. of Daniel CAMERON m. at Smithfield to Miss Lucinda Rich.. both of Smithfield. No newspaper given for m. of CAMERON, Alexander of Pompey and Mrs. Fuller of Buffalo, m. Buffalo 5 Feb 1830. The actual articles may have more info, but I think the one on Sarah has great leads. There were no other Cameron's in my books. Sharon Garrett

    3. Hello, I don't know if this will help or not, but in my family we have a Sarah Dingman Van Allen -in Rennsalaer area also. There is a historical account of this Sarah that says she was quite renown. It may be possible that your Sarah Allen may be a descendant of Sarah Van Allen. marilyn sondrafoley@juno.com wrote: >Hi List, >Trying to find a family for Sarah Allen Cameron, have not been able to >find her parents or siblings. 1. Re: [NYMADISO] Reed's Landing
    2. Hi Carol, I thought you name sounded familiar when I saw it on the posting. I haven't done very much regarding the Reeds since the last time we wrote. Well, I managed to dispel a few myths regarding some of the extended family lines, and confirm some, but that has been the extent of it. I also submitted tons of info to the Santa Paula Historical Society in Santa Paula, Ca., since my ggg grandmother, Lucinda Surviva Reed and her sister Mary E. Reed went there. Let me rephrase that..Mary E. Reed, daughter of Stephan and Surviva (Hopkins) Reed, married an E.L. Bradley, also from the New York area who CO-founded the town of Santa Paula with a Mr. Blanchard, and because of that most of the my extending family lines moved there, and it is also where I was born, so the historical society was thrilled to get the information. But, that is about it. Thanks for getting back to me. Hope all is well with you. Debera.

There, at the open grave, while tears gathered in regretful eyes and the blending voices of school and church bells, from the village, told of their common sorrow, it seemed passing strange that so many will leave their names only to be cut in pale, cold marble, when they might write them on the tablets of living, loving, human hearts." ====================================== Cortland County - Chapter 9 of Smith's 1885 history of Cortland County: From 1830 to the present time (1885). http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/smithhis.htm ---------------------------------------------- Town of Homer info listing started - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/homer.htm Centennial of Congregational Church - 1901 ====================================== Madison County - 1899 History of Madison County - Chapter 26 - The Medical Societies and Profession. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nymadiso/1899-26.htm ====================================== Two more volunteers to transcribe have written. 2. Hi Debera, I believe we have contacted one another several years ago, and couldn't find anything to help us make a connection then, but I've continued to look. I don't have much more of anything, especially in Madison Co. I suppose it is possible that Reed's Landing may be recorded in the deeds in such a way that it would be possible to establish a link to one of our Reeds, your most likely. Didn't your Stephen come from Massachusetts, or am I thinking of someone else? It seems that I saw something in the last month or so, but I have no idea where, right now. Wish I could help. 2. Hi Carol, I don't know the answer to your question concerning Reed's Landing, but are you searching the Reeds in the area? I am searching for Stephan and Surviva Reed, and trying to find out information on Stephan's father, brothers, sisters, etc, and where they originally came from and when. Would this be the same family line that you are interested in? And if so, do you have anything to add that I might be interested in? Thank you, Debera.

    3. Hello List Since last night I have found, with the help of many people and Joan- Thanks by the way to all who sent me any kind of help in my search, but I did find that my Charles J.Miller was born 8 April,1910 -and died in a multi-car accident in Cicero on 3 Dec,1972 ,he was buried on Dec.6,1972 Leonarsville Cemetery as is his wife Thelma Eddy Miller - His brother Robert Clayton Miller was in a School in Rome,NY called Rome State School, he was a change of life baby, his mother Mary Ann Jones Miller was age 44 at the time of Roberts birth, and something went wrong with his development- the school I am told closed about 10 years ago and now has 2 State Prisons on its former site- This to me is a lot of info since I have little or nothing in the terms of dates and places- now I will seek out a Charles Phillip Miller who may now live in Whitesboro,NY- not knowing if he still lives or not,but looking all the same- he is the son of Charles J. and Thelma Miller- Thanks again Peggy

    2. In a message dated 4/20/2005 5:56:46 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, cbain44@twcny.rr.com writes: Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Best Always, Carol Carol, I am a Certified Gemologist Appraiser and member of the American Gem Society. What does this have to do with your artifacts? Actually a great deal as the appraisal process is much the same from one discipline to another. The first rule of thumb is that accept no appraisal service that offers to buy your pieces. I can virtually guarantee that such a service serves it's own purpose of buying deeply under market rather then providing you an accurate market value for your goods. Secondly, be prepared to pay on a per item basis with no discount for the number of items appraised. When people ask me for a discount on a per item bases I ask them "Do I get to spend less time on the other items?". You see, it's really a time and expertise issue, the same as any other profession. If you hired a physician or a lawyer they might need to consult with other experts and time is of course, money. Thirdly, pretend that you no longer have the items so what remains is the appraiser's documentation, and photographs as the only proof of your ownership, and the only remaining (legal) description of what you once had. This may come into play in a court in the event the items were lost through theft and you were asked to prove they were yours. It may also come into question if there is a loss and the insurance company questions the credentials of the person doing the work. You might want to contact Christies, Southabys, ( my spelling on the latter may not be correct.) or one of the other large auction houses for name of qualified people to look at your items. By the way, if you do contact these people you might ask them if they ever heard the name "William B. Lance" 1874 - 1962. The family tale of William is that after about 1921 he left Seattle and lived in California where he traveled the American South West extensively, and traded in Indian artifacts. It was said he wrote for National Geographic but so far I've not found proof of this nor anyone who is familiar with his California business. Please feel free to contact me if you have other questions. Laurence Lance

    3. Hi, List: You are all so well-informed and being that the relics I am inquiring about are From Madison County, I am hoping that no one will mind my question. Does anyone know where I could get an appraisal for some Indian relics that were found throughout Central New York (mostly Madison County and some probably Oswego County)? My whole family used to go "Indian Relic Hunting" and my Aunt (who moved to New Mexico) wants to give what she has of my Uncle's (who passed away) to my father, my brother and myself, but we want to pay her for them and we don't know what a fair price would be! I've tried searching Google and also the White Pages but I'm not getting very far. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Best Always, Carol
