    1. Suggestions?
    2. JCB
    3. Hello to all I have an idea... and would appreciate hearing from anyone, regarding it. Awhile back, I bought a couple of CDs through eBay. On these CDs are the staples of Madison County history; both the Smith works, Hammond, and so on. They were not searchable as they were, but I have put them through a process with Adobe Acrobat which makes them so. What I would like to do is put a CD of my own together, regarding four of these books: "Biographical Review", "History of Chenango and Madison Counties", "Our County and Its People", and "History of Madison County", and put it on eBay. Unless someone knows something about copyright law that I don't, (and all I am drawing from is a familiarity with it through song writing), I think I am within the law, regarding these four books. I'm wide open for education, criticism, and suggestions: pricing, copyright, etc. I would send a page link for the item to this list, as well as the Chenango. Unfortunately, there is just too much of a hassl! e, regarding exchange rates between Australia and America, and if I tried to do this privately, I'd wind up paying evil moneychangers twice the value of the product for sitting around and looking important... and we don't want to do that now do we............ Anyway, let me know your thoughts and ideas, and hopefully we can come up with something that everyone can benefit from. Anything will be appreciated. Thanks John

    3. First, I am not a lawyer so I may be corrected but if the works, that you have, are stil in print, you could be violating copyright laws. If the works are no longer in print you may be safe - can you find out if they are in"public domain"? Karl

    3. Carol, here is a list of people I know they are buried in the two cemeteries. If you run across any BEEMAN names I am interested. The family ties into CASE, SCHUYLER that I am interested in also, but didn't want to overwhelm you. So whatever you get is great. 3. Hi, Folks, I have a suggestion about the Brookfield diaries on EBay from Michigan. County Historian, Deborah Harmon says she plans to bid on them to bring them home to Madison Co. I would suggest if others had planned to bid, or already have put in a bid, get together with Deborah and others in the county, so as not to be bidding against each other and run the price up. Chas

First off in the for what its worth department - received from a correspondent - 7/26: The diaries I have were written by AVERY MAINE / MAIN who lived in CLARKVILLE (BROOKFIELD), MADISON COUNTY, NEW YORK. I will be auctioning them off on eBay as I finish reading through them. The first two diaries have been listed - here are links to the auction listings. Please watch my eBay auctions as I will be listing the other diaries written by Avery Maine in the upcoming weeks. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2196&item=7339005740 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=2196&item=7338827158 ============================================================================ Since my last report of 6/25/05: Chenango County: 1880 History - Chapter 12 - Newspaper history of Chenango County http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/1880-12.htm ------------------------------------------------------- Beginnings of a railroad history for central New York: Starting with the Central Valley Railroad that went bust fairly quickly tying the town of Smithville in debt for 25 years paying off bonds on the long gone rail line. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/rrhist.htm ------------------------------------------------------- Several more bios from the 1898 bios book: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/1898bios.htm ------------------------------------------------------- Skillman Cemetery - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/skillman.htm ------------------------------------------------------- 3 more pages of the 1860 census for Bainbridge: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/census/1860/bainbridge/1860bnbr.htm ============================================================================ Cortland County: Homer Avenue Methodist Episcopal Church directory circa 1918 - http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/homerave.htm ============================================================================ Madison County: Changing the main page around to place sites that our friends dearly departed used to host for Madison county material. Along this line I've been working on Dan's personal and history/genealogy sites. The place I had placed his personal site seems to have gone over the edge, so I'll have to look for a new home for that. I've been working on fixing broken links and/or link changes due to making this move. This past week, Dan's widow sent me a cornucopia of material both in paper and digitial form for both sites. Tim

What it was called I don't know - just relief. Why I'm getting them I'm unsure for my life is much less stressful than this time last year. Hopefully I can give you folks an update this evening on the status of other things. ------------------------------------------------------via webmail---- Tim Stowell tstowell@chattanooga.net
