    2. Actually it means that People whose behavior is strictly controlled go over the top when authority is not around and back in my youth that meant you had a party or did something other wise not allowed while your parents were gone (of course I always got caught). Looks to me like "John" is the one to get this Party rolling (he he). Pat R

    3. The old railroad station was located in Bouckville on route 20. It later became Matt's Diner which is where I first met my husband :-) I think it is now an antique store, but I haven't been down that way in quite awhile. I have been researching my family history, and most of my family from my fathers side is from Madison County, although I have just learned this recently. I was wondering if you know anyone by the last name of Colclough or Lindsley. My great grandparents grew up in Munnsville and Stockbridge and I think that I still have extended family that lives there. I also think that many of my ancestors are burried in Madison County. I am very interested in learning more about this area, what it was like in the early 1900's, and whether you might know of my relatives. 3. Tim, I have Windows XP Chas. Incidentally, Tim, I visited Americana Village cemetery a couple weeks ago and saw the Stowell stone. it was too bad weather to get a picture and it along with many of the others are difficult to read because of being over grown with lichen, etc. Many of the old buildings that were moved there show a lot of neglect.(as far as preservation/restoration is concerned). I wonder if noone cares as much about it as previously?? I will be visiting there again later when better weather. 3. Hi Tim, Well. I've reading this list for a long time on and off and have never been able to help anyone. Yes, I do have Will's LONG Obit, Estate settlement and a number of newspaper articles. He is related to my wife's side the Martins who settled in Cazenovia in 1806 and then moved to New Woodstock. As a matter of fact the steeple of the Baptist church was raised with the help of Will's wife's father the day she was born. Will and family are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Caz and I will be glad to send you photos of the graves if you would like . I don't know what the rules are about sending those types of things as they would be attachments. Craig

I have not been able to find a cemetery record for him and wondered if those who have access to the newspaper accounts of Madison county are able to find an obit listing for him? Thanks, The Cat

    3. Here is his msg to me. Chas ----- Original Message ----- From: Richard A. Baxter To: [email protected] Sent: Sunday, March 02, 2008 11:55 AM Subject: Baxters in Madison County Charles: Have a question and want to tap your knowledge of Madison County. My great great great great grandfather was Daniel Reed Baxter who resided in Madison County from about 1802 to his passing in 1842 (he and his wife Bethiah are buried in Nelson Rural Cemetery). They had 11 children, 6 who relocated to Illinois in the 1835 to 1838 time frame. I have documented these six (one of them June, my ggg grandfather), however I have never been able to find anything on the other five that either did not survive to adulthood or remained in Madison County. I am attaching my knowledge/comments on Daniel and think you will find them interesting (first person tried in the courts in Madison County!). The other five children that I have never found are: Eliza, Fanny, John, Mary, and Thaddeus. My question is: Have you ran into, or have any knowledge of, these early Baxter's from Madison County? I realize that this is a long shot, but just want to give it a try, as you are very knowledgeable of Madison County.! Daniel was born in Westchester County and we are descended to Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins though his wife Bethiah Crosby. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any help or suggestions are most appreciated.
