    2. I'm wondering if your HAMMONDs are related to mine-- ROSAMOND HAMMOND 1684-1727 of Dartmouth MA married JOHN SPOONER (1668-1705).? Their GRX2 grandson, PRINCE SPOONER was born in Oakham, Worcester MA 1768 and died in Madison NY 1845.? Do you know where your Hammonds originated?? I know about Rosamond and her ancestors but not much about the descendant line. Will be very glad to share info-- Sue in CT

    3. Would some one who has access to the 1870, 1880 1900, 1910, 1920 and 1930 census look up and send me information for Wallace H. Stevens and his wife Louise. They would have lived in Deerfield, Tioga Co, Pa also known as Knoxville Date of birth was Feb. 1869, date of death 1958 in Ithaca, NY. According to the 1870,1880 and 1930 census he was living in Dearfield/Knoxville in Tioga Co. Pa. It is possible that in 1900/1910 and 1920 he might have been living in NY. I know that by 1913 he was in or around Candor/Willesyville and Binghamton, NY and by 1945 had retired from the pastorate in Waterloo, NY. Any help you can give me is appreciated. This is my uncle's father. 3. Hello group, I am interested in any information about the Chapmans in Fenner or Nelson, 1800-1820. After searching for 15 years, I think I have found a possible family of Sarah Chapman, b. 1804 who married John Aylesworth b. 1807, son of Jasper Aylesworth (founding father of Peterboro). A Mary Chapman b.1795, married Jospeh Hammond & lived in Nelson. Their 1st 3 dau were Sarah, Fanny, Jane. My ggm Sarah's 2 dau were Fanny & Jane (not Aylesworth names). Both families (Hammond & Aylesworth) moved to Brookfield WI abt 1840/41. After doing some research (Pioneers of Madison Co., various censuses, & some online genealogies), I think they may be daughters of Roswell Chapman, b. 1775 or before or Nathaniel Chapman, b. 1775 or bef. One or both of these men had sons named Nathaniel, b. 1796-1800 & Roswell b. 1792-1796. The sons moved from Nelson to Georgetown to DeRuyter. Nathaniiel, the son died & is buried in Georgetown. They may have had brothers John b. 1800-1810 and Henry b. 1800-1810 who are on the 1830 Nelson census. Nathaniel the son, had a son Grove. Natrhaniel or Roswell had a son, Silas who md Clarissa Wadsworth, dau of Harry B. Wadsworth and his wife Esther Brownell. The break-through came when a descendent of Mary (Chapman) Hammond left me a message. I have some information on the Hammonds who stayed in WI & MN. Any information on any of these families would be greatly appreciated. Marilyn [email protected]

    1. [NYMADISO] Historical exhibits at Wampsville
    2. Charles Page
    3. Hello, Listers, In case any of you are close enough or plan to visit here, I just wanted to call your attention to the displays of historical interest in the lobby of the Madsion County Office Bldg in Wampsville. Cince the new county Historian has taken over, there seems to be a renewed interest in making the office bldg "a place to visit", as well as to transact business. Right now they have an exhibit of old "stampless" letters and documents. Yesterday I stopped in to see it, and the big billboard-like posters with pictures of County places and people of interest. The "stampless mailings" are some of those same forgotten documents being dug out of the basement. One of the volunteers, Mr. Betz, was on hand to explain them, and how they are being copied and preserved. The old method of mailing these documents is in stark contrast to the present "Faxing" and the digital methods of copying, photographing, cataloging and preserving them in a way to make them available for use by the public. Going through those basement boxes is a tremendous job, but is getting done, with the County Clerk, County Historian, and their volunteers cooperating. Chas Incidentally, they were serving refreshments yesterday. (I picked the right day) No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG. 1. [NYMADISO] Central New York Cemetery Program
    2. ____________________________________ From: [email protected] Reply-to: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: 6/3/2008 10:28:04 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time Subj: [NYONONDA] Central New York Cemetery Program Just wanted to let you all know about a program being held at the Central Library on Saturday, brought to you by those great folks at the IACI and your friendly neighborhood library! Event is free, open to the public, no reservations needed. "Your Local Cemetery: Don't take things for Granite! Everything you wanted to know, but didn't know who to ask." An informative day with various speakers who will address many issues concerning Cemeteries - laws, up keep, Monuments and their care, The Funeral Director's involvement and a whole lot more! IACI of CNY Genealogy in conjunction with the OCPL Local History and Genealogy Dept. will host a day of Cemetery talks on Saturday June 7th from 9:15 - 4:15 pm in the Curtin Auditorium at the Central Library. This is a brown bag lunch event with some refreshments available. (Please bring your lunch!) Speakers will be: * Ken Sweet, of Sweet-Woods Memorials Co. in Phoenix, will speak about different types of Monuments and their care. This is extremely important to learn, since the Monument is the only lasting visual reminder of the final burial place of your loved one. Keeping it clean, having it readable, accurate, safe, and installed according to the Cemetery regulations is important since so much can be learned about your loved one by reading their stone. Ken will gladly answer any questions you may have. * Bonnie L. McCullough, CAE, Executive Director, New York State Funeral Directors Association (NYSFDA), and past Executive Director of Montana State Funeral Directors Association will speak about many issues concerning the Funeral Home's involvement with the final choices made concerning your loved one's remains: whether a traditional burial takes place or cremation, and how the remains are legally cared for in NYS, and how Funeral Homes adjust to each individual Cemetery's policies. She will also discuss the option of Anatomical Donations. Bonnie is a wealth of knowledge and she will gladly answer your questions. * Michael Seelman, from the NYS Division of Cemeteries, will speak about the NYS regulations concerning Cemeteries that are not privately owned (aka not-for-profit cemeteries). As Cemetery Associations meet with Lot Owners to discuss issues, people should be informed about the legislation that effects the Cemetery. Mike will try to explain that to you and also answer questions. * G Richard Bruns, Superintendent of Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse, and a member of the Board of Directors of the NYS Association of Cemeteries, will speak all about Cemetery operation and the purpose and function of the NYS Association of Cemeteries. He is a great resource not only for local issues, but across the state as well, and will answer questions you may have. * During Lunch we hope to show a locally produced film about Rose Hill Cemetery.
