Speaking of BROWN I've long been on the search for Charlotte or Sharlot Brown. Charlotte was born about 1835 in Walnut Valley, NJ to Isaac V. BROWN ( abt 1789 - after June 1870) and ANN CARR ( abt 1796- ?) Charlotte died between June of 1965 and Sept of 1870 leaving her husband WILLIAM LANCE with six children. I dont' think William ever got over loosing her as he never married. I do know we feel her loss to this day. Charlotte had at least two siblings I know of 1. James BROWN born about 1828 2, Robert B. Brown born about 1830 no marriage for either are known. Issac V. Brown was born in NJ but his parents JAMES ? - July 16, 1819) and ELIZABETH were likely not. James and Elizabeth had a large family ten children I know of 1. Isaac V. 2. Nicholas 3. James 4. John 5. Joseph 6. Sam 7. Ralph 8. Daniel 9. Sarah who married Fritz 10. Mary who married John Angel. Anyone recognize the family? Laurence Lance **************Gas prices getting you down? Search AOL Autos for fuel-efficient used cars. (http://autos.aol.com/used?ncid=aolaut00050000000007)
Okay, thanks, Teresa. We corresponded a few times a couple of months or so ago about BUTTON. I am glad Chas is keeping us updated on the progress of the people who are going through the boxes of stuff found in the basement of the Madison County Office Building in Wampsville. Anita - I believe his remains were disinterred when Erieville Reservoir was built circa 1855. Very few graves remain in that original burial ground at the dam end of the lake and absolutely no stones. I believe he was buried in the Erieville Cemetary next to JoAnna. I haven't been on my Cemetery 'crawl' this year so I need to check it out. There is a Levi stone there but which Levi is difficult to tell. There were several of them. I will try to check that out next time we have a sunny day. I still have a mystery as to which Joanna is the correct one. I am beginning to think that Joanna's middle name was Catlin and they listed here that way on the quit claim deed rather than her maiden name, which may have been Clarke. Her son Levi JR. had a child that was named Samuel Catlin Brown born in 1808. So that bit of mystery continues....Help there would be appreciated. Dorothy **************Gas prices getting you down? The probate & naturalization site, http://www.sampubco.com/ had been revamped in many ways. Some are subtle and others are upfront. What is the big change? all new additions are listed right on home page. And I would appreciate feedback/response from any of you to improve in some areas I may not be so obvious to. and get ready for a sudden surprise that's on the site. W. David Samuelsen SAMPUBCO

Since my update of 6/5 - For this update - ====================== Cortland County - Deaths from the Cortland Democrat for 1884 http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/cortland/vitals/d1884.htm Deaths from the Cortland Democrat for 1885 http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/cortland/vitals/d1885.htm The obits of this time frame are so much more descriptive than our short and sweet ones of today. Reading many of these, you almost can consider you knew the person. July 3rd death of a GALUSHA made me wonder if this family was connected with the western Chenango family whose daughter was drowned by a man in upstate New York - Moose Lake, was I believe its name. August 7th death of child Freddie Brooks has an interesting end: "... thus does hope exalt the Genie of the past into the Genie of the future. Memory and hope! How graciously do they keep our dead for us! " September 11th - In Memoriam - Calvin L. Hatheway - what more fitting tribute could a man have? -- "May his virtues long remain in the memories of men." and many more ---------------------------- Search engine re-indexed for Cortland County new queries entered from - 5/24 - 6/18: Stoddart, Murphy, Leach, Thomas, Robbins, Truxton, Davis, Moore, Gray, Pickett, Hotchkins and Howe surnames. ======================================================== Chenango County - Search engine re-indexed for Chenango County new queries entered from - 4/27- 6/17: Lord, Wheeler, Brown, Heering, Haggerty, Riordan, Parker, Bates, Pettis, Cleveland, Carney, Hunt, Reed, Harrington, Gray, Beadle, Smith, Lee, Slauanberg, Bassett, Davern, Feehan, Ryan, Toohey and Fanning surnames. ======================================================== Madison County - Search engine re-indexed for Madison County minus Mike Hollingsworth's portion of the site which has a separate search feature. 1899 history update for a few biographical entries - index http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/madison1/books/99bioidx.htm#ref new queries entered from - 4/26 - 6/19: Irons, Calkins, Phillips, Dunham, Bebee, Thomas, Wentworth, Burton, Gavitt, Murphy, Menzie, Wellington, Walrath, Gillespie / Glasype, Aldrich / Aldridge, Carter, Gleason, Minor, Calhoun, Phelps, Sholes, Drake, Hitchcock, Williams, Maxon / Maxson, Ward, Brown and Brown. Does anyone know anything about the family of Dennis and Mary Connell, native of Ireland, who were in town of Madison in 1870 and 1880 census? They may have been related to Patrick Lyons, also from Ireland. Both men filed their declarations to become citizens on Feb. 27, 1857 (at that time they were living in Eaton). I'd like to find out when Dennis Connell died and where he is buried and the names of all his children. He does appear as a farmer of 40 acres on Lot #82 in Madison in the 1868-69 directory, with a post office address of Hamilton. He may have sometimes been known as Dennis O'Connell. Donna B.
Tim In all seriousness - I have Indian Opening, Madison Center, and a few from Madison Village. John
