In or around Brookfield there was a Beebe farm at least in 1804 there was, and according to the articles in some of the old papers and other information I have gotten. Can anyone tell me about it and are there any pictures? Speaking of pictures, does any one have access or would they have a copies of pictures and or articles regarding the following people? 1.Cyrus Beebe and wife Rhody and or Phebe Chesebro Beebe and children 2. Judson Beebe and wife Susan Blanding, their children, also her parents and 3. Hiram J. Beebe and wife Ellen Amelia Hills Beebe and children Will, Lela, and James 4. Wedding announcement for any of the above people including Lela, and her brother James 5. Any other information regarding the Beebe family no matter how small the item. And one last question at least for the moment. Who is Phebe Crandall that is mentioned in the 1877 article that a certain Cyrus married? The only Phebe that I am aware of is Phebe Chesebro Palmer who married Cyrus Beebe Sr. after her sister Rhody died. ____________________________________________________________ Click for VA loan resources and rate quotes. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL2141/fc/Ioyw6i3m3mWdmfo0lF0gZnftf3wog1gZ1OSaFosDEZsGbknxiMDMaK/

Hi Joan, Your grandfather Will is the great grandson of that Cyrus Beebe. It's a direct line. If Will descended from a brother of that Cyrus, then he would be a great grand nephew. Will is the grand nephew of your great great grandfather Judson's brother, Cyrus. It appears that the 1873 article is about your GGGgrandfather and the 1909 article is about Will's grand uncle Cyrus, brother of Judson. I forgot to say when talking about Cyrus grand nephew Will Beebe of Candor. If I backtracked my grandfather's correctly. Then this is how it would look on paper. 1. starting with me: Joan Beebe Meddaugh 2. My father: Cyrus Arthur Beebe 3. His father ( my grandfather) Will Lyman Beebe 4. Will's father ( my great grandfather) Hiram J. Beebe 5. His father ( my great great grandfather) Judson L. Beebe ( he had a brother named Cyrus) 6. His father, ( my great great great grandfather) Cyrus Beebe who was married to Rhody Chesebro and later to her widowed sister Phoebe Palmer. So saying all this am I right in assuming that Will L. Beebe my grandfather, is the grand nephew of Cyrus who married Rhody and later her sister Phoebe Chesebro Palmer? Please let me know if I am right or wrong in my assumptions. Is there any way possible that someone could check on the death of Cyrus Beebe who died either July of 1908 or October of 1908 in E. Hamilton in Madison, Co. Or give me the name of the place to contact to see if they would give me the info? I need to find out two things, his parents names and his wife. I think I am dealing with two perhaps 3 different Cyrus Beebe's but not sure. According to an article in the Waterville Times from Poolville. It talks about the contesting of his will by his grand nephew, my grandfather Will L. Beebe of Candor. Date of death for this Cyrus was in October of 1908. in an 1877 article there is a wedding announcement for a Cyrus Beebe age about 79 and Mrs. Phoebe Crandall age 77. This might be Cyrus Beebe who was first married to Rhody Chesebro and later to her sister Phebe Chesebro Palmer. But the paper states it as Crandall. So I am totally confused. Can someone help me please? I don't need the paper work just the information off of them. Oh, an one more thing, the Cyrus that lived in E. Hamilton had a daughter Alice who died before her parents. Mrs. Beebe, Cyrus's wife died less than a year after her husband which would make it 1909. I would love to figure out which Cyrus is which. a very confused Joan ____________________________________________________________ Click for free quote on refinancing your mortgage. http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL2141/fc/Ioyw6i3m3eRCneHULz7U1vTpVF1jLD1UN2A9yO6WF17CJexqw9nKk2/
Thought all of you Beebe's out there might enjoy some interesting information about Cyrus Beebe. I think this talks about father and son but I need to have more info to make the connection. If you can help please let me know. Joan There will be the usual number of changes in our little village this spring. D. Smith Marsh will be moving from the Blanding farm to his own house in the village. B. Weeks from the Cyrus Mason place to the farm which will be vacated by Mr. Marsh. Cyrus Mason has rented his place Allen Marsh. Mr. Mason has just returned from East Hamilton where he had been visiting his uncle Cyrus Beebe and is now the guest of J. F. Garrett and Family. ________________________________________________________ Waterville Times 1906-1909 People of this village were pained to learn of the death of Cyrus Beebe at his home in near East Hamilton recently. Burial was made in the vault in our cemetery besides his daughter Miss. Alice. Much sympathy is felt for his wife, who is left so alone in her old age, and in feeble health. Her sister Mrs. Ann Remick of this place is with her. _________________________________________________________ Waterville Times 1909 Mrs. Cyrus Beebe died at her home at East Hamilton on Monday. Two nieces and a nephew and a grandniece have waived any rights they may have. The matter will come up before Surrogate Kilay February 21. J. F, Gridley appears for William Beebe, the Hon. E. I've "rescued" two old photographs which belong to the WESSELL Family of New York. The first is a photograph of Gertrude WESSELL which was taken at the Stewart & Yoost Studio in Oneida, NY. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's with Gertrude appearing to be in her 30's or 40's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as "Grandpa WESSELL" and was taken at the A. Parker Studio in Seneca Falls, NY. This photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's or 1880's with Grandpa WESSELL likely in his 70's or 80's at the time it was taken. I am hoping to locate someone from this WESSELL Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to their rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
lol oooooooo that was badddddd ;-)
Dear Teresa: You are right. I mistakenly gave Nathan PALMER's birth and death dates to Nathan BROWN when I was copying the information from your email of March 5, 2008. I have several Amy BUTTONs but do not have an Amy BUTTON born 1774-75. From "Button Families of America," I have an Amy BUTTON, daughter of John BUTTON born 1749 and Anna MACCOON; this Amy was born August 6, 1797, married an Unknown BROWN. I just checked "Button Families of America" to make sure I had not made a mistake copying the birth date of this Amy BUTTON, but I had not. I think, though, that this Amy BUTTON born 1797 may have been a grandchild of John BUTTON born 1749. R. Glen Nye, the compiler of "Button Families of America," included children in BUTTON families who could not have been part of the families where he placed them because the mother in question was too old to bear children at that time. Another thought is that Amy's birth date in "Button Families of America" is a mistake. It takes changing only one digit, from 1797 to 1747, to make her agree with your information. There are errors in "Button Families of America." I have just looked at the Baldwin cemetery page that you gave and see that the Amy there who married Nathan W. BROWN was born in 1769. I have an Amy BUTTON born January 26, 1747-48 in Voluntown, CT. She was the daughter of Matthias BUTTON born 1691and Mary BROWN born 1693, both in Stonington, CT. That's all the information I have for her. Maybe Nathan BROWN did not marry an Amy BUTTON, but some other Amy. I am looking for relatives of Dennie Brown first wife of my great great great and then some cousin of Frank Spooner son of Francie Hills and Hank/Henry Spooner of N. Brookfield. Dennie died of septicemia after child birth. Her child I think it was a daughter Francie, lived. Although the Brown family is not a direct line cousin, like the line that extends from Ellen A. Hills Beebe and Hiram J. Beebe Francie's sister, I still would like to learn more about them. I know that Francie is buried in Brookfield along with her Father and mother. Here's hoping to hear from at least a few of you. Does anyone know how I can find out about a family buried at the Catholic Cemetery in Oneida? Thanks, Donna B.
Jayne, I checked my records. THe dates you quote are for Nathan Wells Palmer. He was the grandson of Nathan Wells Brown (b. abt 1774) and son of Lawton Palmer and Amy Lodema Brown. Jayne, The will transcription that I posted on 6/26 is not Nathan Wells Brown or his father. The will is for a Nathan Brown that died in 1806 or 1807, much too early. I am interested in Nathan Wells Brown, spouse of Amy Button that you mention. However, I don't agree w/ your dates, but I am interested in your sources since I am still trying to verify information. If you refer to: http://files.usgwarchives.org/ny/madison/cemeteries/brookfld.txt you will find Nathan W. Brown and wife Amy buried in the Baldwin Farm Cemetery. I believe these are Nathan Wells Brown and wife Amy Button. They were born about 1774, much earlier than your dates. I believe this Nathan Wells Brown is the son of Ebenezer Brown and Anna Wells of Westerly, Rhode Island, as per a previous family researcher. She found his birth record in Westerly as July 22, 1774, which is inconsistent w/ the cemetery and with records she found associated w/ the Unadilla Baptist. The 1774 date is consistent with the 1800 US census for household of Nathan Brown in Plainfield, Otsego Co., New York, which I believe to be the same man. His household "Nathan W. Brown" is also in Plainfield in 1810, after which he would have died later that year. I believe Nathan Wells Brown, as per earlier researcher, to be the brother of Caleb Brown of Plainfield. He apparently mentions his brother's family in his will. When sampubco eventually sends the Caleb's will as I ordered months ago, I will be able to see what is in Caleb's will. There are still odd things. For instance, for the above scenario to be true, Amy (wife of Nathan Wells Brown) birth date in the cemetery must also be wrong. The 1800 and 1810 censuses show Nathan's wife as being a bit younger (b. 1774-1775), which does make her younger than her husband, which is most common. While I can account for many of the folks who are also buried in the Baldwin Farm Cemetery, but there are quite a few other Brown men about the same age as Nathan W. Brown buried there that I can't account for which makes me wonder if I have the story clear. I was wondering if the dates that you list for Nathan Wells Brown were actually for Nathan W. Palmer. He is also in this cemetery, b. 1823 and d. 1885, the same years you list for Nathan Wells Brown. Let me know what your sources are. In another posting, I will try to account for the folks in this cemetery and see if any of you out there have info on some of the names that I don't know.
