    2. Dear Pat: I have Adobe 9 on my computer. I don't know what you mean by copying the references to your family to Adobe. If there's a hard way of doing things, I will do it that way. 1. [NYMADISO] update 9/10/08
    2. Tim Stowell
    3. Since my update of 8/29 - For this update - ====================== Cortland County - Marriages from the Cortland Democrat for 1888. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/cortland/crtdvlle.htm Deaths from the same newspaper for 1887 and 1888 These also have folks from Madison / Chenango counties mentioned from time to time, so don't discount these. I saw several mentions of folks from Cazenovia and Pitcher going across the border to Cortland. One surname hopped out - Ingalls and I wondered if this person was tied into Anita's family tree. I'm working on some odds and ends for 1886-1887 and then on to other stuff. Tim

    3. I have found that the easiest way to use the fultonhistory.com site, is to type a whole name, i.e. "joe palooka" of just the last name "palooka".  Yes, I put them in quotes.  I grant you that you will find duplicates, even triplicates, and certain articles, if they were really news-worthy, might be in many different newspapers, sometimes maybe a thousand miles from where the even actually took place.  I had to ask Mr. Tryinski once how to find something (I'm not very good at finding things by boolean searching) and he helped immediately.  At my age I need to study how to do that type of searching, but "quotes" work wonderfully well--even checking different spellings.  One member of my husband's family has the last name spelled "Dailey", "Daley", and guess whatt -- it is "Daly".  I can't tell you how many years  it took me to find that, but the lady died in Buffalo, the obituary that cinched the family ties was in the Clyde paper, and they had lived most of their married life in Cleveland--but are buried in the Weedsport Cemetery.    Life is a walk in the park--have fun along the way.   Dorothy --- On Tue, 9/9/08, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [NYMADISO] Fultonhistory.com To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, September 9, 2008, 10:05 AM Dear Peggy, Dorothy and Pat: Peggy and Dorothy, you could not compose any greater encomiums to fultonhistory.com than I can. 2. I believe the site is updated every Sunday. That might be why there are additional articles. Dianne **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? 2. Dear List: I am writing this email to this list because I first learned about fultonhistory.com on this list. I have been working fast and feverishly for the past month, extracting articles about HITEMAN from this site. There are 1588 such articles. At first I went through the messages, 25 to a page., and got through to 1100 articles which meant I should be nearing the end. I had noticed that many, perhaps all, of the articles are repeated, some many times, but it is quite easy to ignore the repetitions. In the last couple of days, however, I have noticed that when I look at, say articles 401-500, I see articles I did not see when I went through those pages before. Where did these articles hide when I went through the first time? I am going through the articles carefully, one by one. I had thought that the articles are in order so that when you go through certain pages, you do not need to go through them again. That appears not to be the case. How, then, do I know when I have all of the articles? And I wonder if there really are 1588 separate articles. When I saw that there were 1588 articles and many repetitions of articles, I thought that the 1588 included all of the repetitions. Now I am thinking that may not be the case. Has anyone else tried to extract many articles for a particular surname, what-have-you, from fultonhistory.com? I don't think that anyone who hasn't done so would understand what I am talking about. Thanks very much. Jayne [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) **************Psssst...Have you heard the news? 3. Hello to all I'm having some hard times with my server lately, and have decided to empty my ftp folder at aanet. I don't keep track of traffic, regarding my genealogy site, so I really don't know how much it's being used. Until I can see improvements in my internet service, this is probably going to be a matter of slowly reloading my pages, or I will have to find a more competent provider. If there is anything I can help anyone with, regarding my work, get in touch and I will be happy to send along what I have. Thanks John

    3. Hi Elaine, How are you and how have you been? Guess what! my husband and I are following in the Beebe footsteps of owning a newspaper. It will be two years that we have been doing it. We are still small with only 1,300 in distribution on a monthly bases. Since we are the only two people that actually do the business of reporting, layout and editing a monthly publication is about all we can handle. People send us stories and we go to events but when there are two or three in one day, you can imagine how tired we must get especially when people send us stuff so close to our deadline. This month we did a large edition of the paper with a total of 40 pages compared to our normal 24-32. Boy were we hopping. Thanks for the idea about e-bay don't know why I didn't think of it. 3. Hi Joan, Look on Ebay. You can do a search for each town or the whole county. I also have a search out for anything DECKER except Black & Decker. I get emails from Ebay every day as to what has been listed for sale in my counties. Elaine ----- Original Message ----- From: "M.
