Woods Born circa 1920 Died June 9, 1983 A service was conducted Saturday morning in the Chamberlin Funeral Home here for Clinton O. Woods, 62, of Wayland RD 1 who died Thursday (June 9, 1983) in Noyes Memorial Hospital, Dansville, following a brief illness. Born in Oklahoma, he had lived in Wayland for the past 37 years. He was a retired tooler at the Gunlocke Co., Inc. in Wayland where he had worked for 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Theodore VanTassel American Legion Post 402 in Wayland. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. Surviving are his wife, Marie Tolner Woods; a son, John of Dansville; a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Shepard of Wayland; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Woods of Oklahoma; six brothers, Charles of Texas, Elton of Oregon, Belton of Arizona, Jay of Colorado and Glen and Roy of Oklahoma; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Davis, Mrs. Letha Smith and Mrs. Geneva Francis, all of Oklahoma; and two granddaughters. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Wayland. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Mary’s Church in Dansville. (GCE, June 16, 1983, p16) John Clifton Woods Born April 6, 1952 Died April 11, 2001 DANSVILLE - John Clifton Woods, 49, of Main St., Dansville died Wednesday, April 11, 2001 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after a brief illness. He was born in Dansville April 6, 1952, the son of Marie Tolner Woods and the late Clinton Woods. John was a graduate of Alfred Tech, with a degree in business administration. He had been employed at the Red Apple in Dansville and Witt Chevrolet, also in Dansville. Besides his mother, he is survived by one sister, Catherine Shepard of Dansville; two nieces, Christine and Stephanie Shepard; one nephew, Matthew Shepard; and several aunts, uncles and cousins as well as many very close friends. Friends may call Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Chamberlin Funeral Home, 73 Main St., Dansville where a funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Wayland.
