Daniel (Donald) Malloch, my grt grdfather, was born ca Apr 1830 in Genesee Co, NY and Married Catherine Ellen "Kate" Campbell in Livingston Co, NY in 1860. Various Scots families were the first settlers in that area that they named Caledonia, NY (after the Roman name for Scotland, I believe) and spread widely thru that area of Livingston & Genesee Counties from abt 1790 to early 1800's.
