There is a Genesee Junction in Monroe Co. NY. Rochester is in Monroe Co. NY as well. You could contact public libraries and historical societies in Livingston and Monroe Counties and see if anyone has records of such a restaurant. I am pretty sure that the Rochester Public Library has a local history section and may have some city/county directories. I did check Google and found two Tip Top diners in Rochester, NY. http://web.pas.rochester.edu/~ygao/text/rochester.html Margaret Scheffler ----- Original Message ----- From: "Hal McCawley" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, June 28, 2004 7:17 PM Subject: [NYLIVING] Geneseo add??? > Need help validating address as reported in earnings statement by SSA. Interesting! Could you tell me more abt Genesee Junction? I don't find it on my map. Could it have been a PO in the WW II era and now part of a large city?? It also is possible that there was never a Tip Top Rest in Geneseo but that was actually the add of the owner or CPA of Tip Top Rest?? I appreciate your helpfulness. Go to http://geonames.usgs.gov/pls/gnis/web_query.gnis_web_query_form And put in "genesee" and "new york" You will find Genesee county, town of Genesee, and Genesee Junction, among others, with links to maps, locators, watersheds, census, and other information for each place. Frank was a railroad laborer in Gainesville, Wyoming, NY in 1930 census. There's a Genesee Falls in Wyoming Co . . . Tried 3 different SS indexs and can't seem to match your data. If he was born in 1887, he would be aprox. 43 on the 1930 census (give or take depending on if he had his birthday yet). Here are the close hits: Year: 1930; Census Place: Gainesville, Wyoming; Roll: 1670; Page: 4A; E numeration District: 17; Name:Frank Coakley Age: 44 Birthplace: Massachusetts Relation to Head-of-house: Boarder in boarding house on Railroad street. Race: White Home in 1930: Gainesville, Wyoming, New York Working on the railroad Seems someone else is looking at ancestry too..... they just left this message last October.
