One must be open to all posibilities. I doubt you had to show proof of your name back then. I didn't find any other good matches. The town stuck out too. Plus she is listed as divorced in 1910 census. We also don't know if her other children are ligitamate either, could be her maiden name. The illigitmate birth could of caused the divorce. Maybe a divorce record would be listed in the county in Michigan for 1908-1910. Really can't rule out anything till all the pieces are together. What does the certificate say for the fathers name?
