    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iRB.2ACE/2645.1 Message Board Post: I was thrilled to see another Martz searcher. I live in NYC. The history of the Phelps and Gorham's Purchase mentioned Conrad Welch, son of Jacob, who reminisced on coming to Dansville in 1798. His grandfather, Jacob Martz, lived near Sunbury, Northumberland Co. Pa. Jacob Martz, son Conrad Martz, George Shirey, Frederick Barnhart, and Jacob Welch and their families came together. Jacob Welch and wife Mary Catherine Welch had 7 children including the above mentioned son Conrad. Their second daughter, Magdalena, born 1786, married William Karcher. Also, Jacob Martz who went to Erie Co. married, I think, Sophia Karcher. Their 3rd son was Martin K. Martz. Sophia's father was Martin Karcher. her brother was William. Their were other Martz relatives in NY. 1810 census in Geneseo had Conrad Marts and David Marts, both with families. In Caledonia, Genesee Co. David Marts died and his will mentioned wife and 5 kids. There is some confusion about the Martz's in Northumb! erland because some people think they later went to Duaphin Co.. Jacob Martz died around 1803 there and left no will but an Administration was set up. Perhaps he went back there, I don't know. Hope to hear from you soon. Gerard Karcher
