Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iRB.2ACE/2497.2 Message Board Post: Hello, I saw your post on William Hall of Avon NY. I am also trying to find out info on Hall's from Avon. My 3rd great Grandfather was Orrin/Orin Hall. In the census I have from 1850 Avon New York William is listed just under my family. Family # 113 Orrin Hall age 22 with wife Julia age 21 and son John age 1 all born in NY. Orrin is listed as a Furnaceman. The next family #114 is William E Hall age 37 is looks like Hester M age 32, Caroline B age 13, Sophia P age 11, Frances E age 9 and Elizabeth 2/12. Also listed with Williams family is Phebe Stafford age 40 and James Stafford age 25. William is listed as a farmer and all were born in New York. I am hoping that Orrin and William are related and I would love more info on him. In 1860 I have him now listed as Orin E Hall with wife Julia, son John, daughter Josephine and daughter Florence. This is a new fine for me. Josephine is my 2nd Great Grandmother and until the complete list of all the names for 1860 were posted I coul! d find her parents. I knew her mother was Julia from 1880 census where Julia is living with Josephine and her husband. You can email me directly at [email protected] Thanks Tina

    1. [NYLIVING] Michael Woolever
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Woolever, Wellever, Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iRB.2ACE/2726 Message Board Post: Michael Woolever was my Great-great-great-Grandfather. During the 1830 census he was in York, Livingston County, New York. He was living next door to Philip Aurner whose family would play a role in Michael's son Ira's life. Michael was married to Rachel. Right after this census Michael moved his family to Sturgis, St. Joseph County, Michigan and homesteaded there. Michael was also listed as Michel in some places and when he went to Michigan began using Wellever as a last name. He used Welliver on his homestead application but was listed on the 1850 census and later as Wellever. His children were: Almira, Mary and Ira who were probably born in New York and Samuel, Anna and Phebe that were born in Michigan. Ira married Catherine Aurner. Ira was my Great-great Grandfather. His children were: Mariah, Evangeline, Emmanuel, Martha, Frank and Clementine. Emmanuel was my great Grandfather. Emmanuel first married Mary Allard and had one child, Belle. He then married Kat! ie Arilla Boyington and had Bessie, Jesse, Mabel and Stella. Mabel was my Grandmother. Michael was born in PA in 1806. Rachel was also born in PA. Michael's father was born in New Jersey. I am trying to find who Michael's father was. Living nearby in Groveland during the 1830 census was Samuel Woolever. He was about the right age to be Michaels father. I then went to the 1810 PA census and found Sam Woolever with a male child that would fit Michael. Does anyone have information on this part of the Woolever family that could help me substantiate who Michael's father was for sure? Please contact me if you have anything at all. Sometimes pieces can be put together.

    2. Carol Tolley
    3. While looking thru some newspaper abstracts in the Livingston Republican, dtd April 11, 1850, Geneseo, Livingston Co, NY, I came across an article that talks about the "ALLEN's Tavern" I will reproduce the article incase anyone can relate to any of the other info: "Wm W JONES of Leicester, was the first male child born west of Utica. He was born in Geneva, Dec 1786. The first grist mill erected in this vicinity was built by Capt GANSON. Judge HOSMER, of Avon, built a sawmill on the Conesus, in 1796 - the first one in this region. The WADSWORTHS one the same year, on the same stream. Stn(??), who was the father of Horatio JONES' first wife, build the first framed house in the Genesee Valley. In 1794, all the inhabitants from the mouth of the river to Williamsburg - which was located near ALLEN'S Tavern, between this place and Mt. Morris - were Judge HOSMER at Avon, Gad WADSWORTH, Gilbert R. BERRY, Wm MARKHAM, Ransom SMITH, Peter SHNEFFEL, Wm HENEHER and Ebenezer MERRY. Solonom WOODRUFF was the first white settler in the town of Livonia, having removed to that town in 1793, in 1795 Phillip SHORT settled at the foot of Hemlock Lake." This article was submitted by CA Historian [email protected] Copyright 1999-2004, NewspaperAbstracts.com Now to my question: Does anyone know anything about the Allen Tavern? Which Allen owned it? Any other info that anyone can provide? Thanks for any responses. Carol
