Great job on the websites! I commend you on your hard work! A tip on reading hard to read tombstones... Take a pad of white paper, or piece or white cardboard with you. Hold it near the stone and turn it at different angles. You will see you can deflect the light onto the stone in different ways causing showdows in the recesses of the letters making them easier to read. --- [email protected] wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to > this mailing list. > > Classification: Cemetery > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/iRB.2ACE/2795.1.1 > > Message Board Post: > > Mark, > Thanks for your nice comments. Yes, these old cemeteries can take a long time to survey -- this one took us all day -- because the gravestones are so hard to read. A group of us have an example of a full-blown website with all the cemeteries in the county listed at http://friendsofcems.org/hancock. That shows what the website would look like if it were scaled up. I have also just added some pictures of the Briggses, Marion and Margaret Doolittle, Mary Jane Hopkins, and Phebe Phillips to the Lima cemetery website. Pictures of people, the cemetery, or graves, like you have at your website, add a lot, don't you think? Thanks for your good work, too! Susan

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iRB.2ACE/2508.2 Message Board Post: I noticed you were looking for information regarding MARKHAM. I have a Louisa MARKHAM in my family tree. She is the daughter of William MARKHAM and Sarah (Sally) YOUNGS. Louisa was born 1/23/1820, native to New York. I don't know where in New York. Louisa was my gggrandmother. She married Clinton A. Wood born 2/5/1820 in Lima NY (also Livingston county). I don't know if my MARKHAM will match to yours, but sending it along. I have a geneaology on the MARKHAM side tracing back to 1600's England. I'll pull it out and see if there were more children listed.
Seeking information on Clinton Wood, also son Clinton Adelbert Wood. Resided Lima, Livingston County NY. Clinton A Wood relocated to Cascade, Kent County, Michigan approx 1863 with wife Lousia MARKHAM Wood. Clinton A Wood is listed in Chapman's 1881 History of Kent County - he was Road Commissioner, School Board Director, veterinarian surgeon 35 years, raised Suffolk Hogs and Kentucky horses. I am seeking any information on Clinton, Clinton A Wood in Lima NY. In particular, who were Clinton's parents, where did they come from. Louisa's lineage has been traced as far back as the 1600's to England.
