Hello. I'm looking for information on the following family: Edward MORAN (182?-1899) and Mary O'BRIEN (183?-1904). Both born in Ireland. Had the following children: William John MORAN 1856?-1912 Edward E MORAN 1857-1941? Thomas MORAN 1859-1877 Charles (Clark) MORAN 1865-1951 Francis J. MORAN 1867-1940 Michael (Maxie) MORAN 1873-1898 Frederick MORAN 1875?-1911 Mary (Minnie) MORAN 1876?-1954 Would love to share information with anyone who knows this family or descendants. Also, I'm trying to confirm that Edward had a sister also in Livingston Co, who supposedly married Peter HER(R)ON/HEARON. I've found the following family in the 1860 census. Anyone know this family? Peter HEARON/HERRON Frances (wife) Edward (son) Roseanna (dau) Michael (son) Mary (dau) Frances (dau) Thanks in advance, Kelly Moran [email protected] _________________________________________________________________ Is your PC infected? You may also want to contact Bell Memorial Library (the link is also there) and see if they will check for the name in Mrs. Frost Card file. Have you checked the 1910 or 20 census? This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Williams Chase Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iRB.2ACE/2824 Message Board Post: I'm a direct descendant of Lemuel Williams 1774-1861. The family moved to Livingston Co. about 1828. His second wife, Sarah, died in Livonia in 1858 and Lemuel Sr. died in Lakeville in 1861. Lemuel Williams was married in Greene Co. in the Coxsackie Reformed Church in Coxsackie, NY to Susanna Steenbergh (or Sternberg) on 23 Dec 1802. She apparently died and he married Sarah (Sally) Chase ( b.1788) on 07 Dec 1806. In New York Births and Baptisms, Southeast Region, 1660-1916, I found reference to baptisms at the Reformed Church of two children in the first marriage, William Augusta and Susan. At least nine more children are listed for the second marriage: Joseph, Eliza Ann, Susan, Lemuel Jr., Sarah Catherine, Abraham, Lucy Abigail, Caroline, and Martha. My direct ancestor, Abraham H. Williams, was born 12 Sept 1818. I'm seeking Lemuel and Sarah's parents. One researcher has identified Lemuel as the son of Rev. Warham Williams and Ann Hall. I am unable to verify. Census records state Lemuel was born in Connecticut. Are Williams descendents still living in Geneseo or Livonia? Thank you for any assistance. Judy Cook California
Tracie, In the 1850 census, Mitchell S. 45 & Rebecca 40 are living in Livingston, NY as you stated, but their place of birth is Maryland for Mitchell as well as Rebecca. Six children are listed and all born in NY. The first male is Washington who is 21. Other children are Lucinda 23 (A Lucinda Jerard 45 is living next to them and in between the Hogmire family.) Samuel 19, Betsey 17, Mitchel J. 9, Rebecca J. 1. Also on the page before the SMILEYS there is another HOGMIRE family; Samuel 66 also born in Maryland with 11 children ranging in age from 2-30..all born in NY except for Elizabeth who is 30 and born in Maryland. Because of the 36 yrs in age difference, I assume this is his daughter and not his wife. If she is not his wife, then he must be widowed. 1860 census may verify this. (Also a Lucinda 6 yrs old) They are listed between KELLOGG families..possibly related? I looked for other SMILEY families in Livingston and didn't find any. I looked for SMILEY familes in Maryland (1850) and found several families all living in Baltimore, Maryland. 1850 Baltimore Ward 4, Baltimore, MD Ann COMPTE or CORNTE 60 born MD SMILEY, Robert 75, born Ireland, Cooper Ann 63 born MD Frances A 30 (female) born Maryland Sophia LAURENSON 28 born MD J. Try looking on Rootsweb.com for a volunteer from the state to do a lookup for a marriage in Baltimore. IF she/he doesn't find any record, then try NY. My Irish ancestors resided in Groveland, Livingston Co in the 1880 census James LOFT (LOUGH)(1839-1892) and Bridget GLENN (1840-1917) with their children: Bernard, Mary, Patrick, Theresa and Elizabeth. Their eldest son James listed as a farm laborour on a farm in Mount Morris. They were from Clones parish, County Fermanagh and County Monaghan. They were in Jarrow, County Durham, England in the 1871 UK census and likely came to the US in 1874-76. Did any other Dansville Irish come from these places ? This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/iRB.2ACE/1986.1.2 Message Board Post: I don't know much about the Cole family, but I can tell you about Johnson Wilcox who md. Lucy Cole, dau. of Azor. His full name is Robert Johnson Wilcox, named after his maternal grandfather. His father was William Wilcox and mother Hannah Johnson. Robert Johnson Wilcox was born 2 May 1787 in Mass. William and Hannah went to Rensselaer Co., N.Y. before 1800. (Greenbush, near Albany) Their son Eber moved to Cortland Co. with his Merrill inlaws. Robert Johnson Wilcox also went to Cortland. Wilcox history indicated Robert Johnson Wilcox married Lucy Cole in Homer, Cortland, N.Y. and their first child, David Henry Wilcox was born in 1811 in Homer. I think I remember seeing proof of Azor Cole living in Cortland about that time period. R.J. Wilcox's parents moved to Mendon, Monroe Co., N.Y. and R.J. went to Springwater, Livingston Co. Does anyone know more about Robert Johnson Wilcox's children? I have six children. All were supposedly born in Homer, Cortland Co. I have read the ! 1887 Springwater History and gleaned those bits of info. Anyway, you could search for Azor in Cortland Co. Write the Co. Hist. Soc. and see if they have any info. on Azor Cole. Thanks, Diane Dayley
