My 5th gr-grandparents are Peter Guenther Sr. & Elizabeth Catherine Zimmer. The family immigrated to New York from Hertsom, Alsace, (France) Germany in 1829 and settled in Mohawk Hill, New York. Peter Guenther b. 1790 Hertsom, Alsace, (France) Germany d. 2 Nove 1862 Mohawk Hill, NY Elizabeth Catherine Zimmer b. 1793 Hertson, Alsace, (France) Germany d. 28 april 1872 Their children are: 1) Peter Guenther (my line) b. 1813 in Germany m. 1836 Mohawk Hill to Cordelia Morgan This branch of the family moved to Glenmont, Holmes county, OH 2) Nicholas Guenther b. 1815 Germany d. 20 Aug 1881 in Mohawk Hill, NY He married Katharine Ann _?_ & Walburga Rheinhurt. His children are unknown. 3) Katharine Guenther b. 22 April 1822 Germany Married to John Guelden. No other information is known of her or her family. 4) Unknown Female Guenther b. 1828 It is said that she married twice. Once to Gregory Geiskopt and second to a Mr. Hoffman. I've also been told that she was still alive in 1914 in NY. 5) Unknown Female Guenther Married to a Mr. Koehler. Nothing more is known of her. 6) Unknown Female Guenther Married John Miller. Unknown Female Guenther. 7) Helen Guenther It is said that she died at age 17 in Mohawk Hill,NY. If anyone knows has any further information on the family, I'd love to hear from you.
