    3. Greetings Lewis Listers: While you work on your family tree, you may often wonder what the people did other than work and raise families. I am very curious to know what types of associations existed in Lewis County of which they may have been members. To my knowledge, there were Masons, 4-H Clubs, church societies, Knights of Columbus, clubs, etc. Some of the groups were for everyone while others existed for men only and others for women only. I know my mother attended card parties at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Croghan and my father may have been a member of the Knights of Columbus. I honestly don't know what organizations my grandparents may have joined. Does anyone know if the records of the various organizations exist in the county or at the state or national level. If anyone can provide the names and sources for any of the organizations mentioned AND add any organizations that are not mentioned here, that would be useful for all of us. I'm sure that only the surface has been touched on my part. Perhaps some individuals have yearly reports, photos, newspaper articles, etc. for organizations their ancestors were members. If anyone reading this could check with Lisa Becker at the Lewis County Historical Society, she might have a list of organizations, some records, or sources for archived membership lists by year. I look forward to reading your responses. Ken
