    3. Fellow Lewis Listers: I've just read a brief article provided in the current issue of Family Tree Magazine that provides a web site (see below) that deals with DNA that you my want to try. As yet I have not gotten to it either but will very shortly. For those of you who have had your "y" (males only) DNA done, try this site that compares your DNA with many other DNA one-name DNA projects similar to the one that is provided below from Jim Denning. If you are unfamiliar with DNA, try using www.google.com to inform yourself of what it is and how it can help genealogists track down unknown ancestors. I have had mine done for the EVERARD name with variations to the name and have found an EVERETT in Michigan who has a somewhat similar DNA. Some people have fears about doing a DNA. It is private and does not call for you to give blood. You get a very small packet in the mail and on the first day you take a miniature plastic comb to brush for one "painless" minute inside one of your cheeks and insert it in a small container with liquid. The next day you use the second comb and perform the same task with the opposite cheek. Then you mail it off and in about a month your DNA set of eleven numbers appear. Keep in mind that blood is not drawn from the cheek. It gathers what might be considered surface flesh inside the cheeks. For those with your own name or nearly the same name, you will be matched up with possible relatives who are already in the DNA bank. Keep in mind the police, CIA, FBI, etc. have nothing to do with this. It's for us only and I can't be given your DNA if our numbers don't match up at all. If there is no DNA project for your surname, you can request that one get started! Try Jim's site on the second line below or ask this question on one of the sites that you might find when you doing your google search above. Don't be bashful but it will cost you in the neighborhood of about $100. Here is the site for those of you with DNAs who want to find possible cousins within other DNA one-name projects: www.ysearch.org. If you are named Denning (or a variant spelling: Dinning, Dinnin, Dinnihy, Dennen, Denune, Denng, Denninge, Denney, Dennie, Danin, Denn, Dinan, etc.) or have a close male relative with the Denning (or variant spelling) surname, then they would be eligible to participate in this study as the study traces the male line descent as far back as is known to study DNA to try to find a common ancestor. > > > >http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_det.asp?group=Denning > > > >www.familytreedna.com/public/Denning&variants > > > >Jim Denning's e-mail is: > >CARADOC28@aol.com
