Hello Rich Wow! You are telling your age now <GRIN>. But I think you are talking about the Civil Air Patrol. The Civil Air Patrol was a group made up of Civilians who volunteered their services. They had a youth program that was very active back in that era and it still exists. At least it does in some area's of the US. Very strong here in the South due to the Aero -space program. I am not sure about Lewis County in particular at this time. . The youth group volunteers to help at different events and they learn leadership ability and also moral and ethical traits. A specific program is followed and a friend of mine has a son who is in that honor program. Also the Civil Air Patrol's main purpose is to highly train people to assist in searching for people, after airplane crashes or any other local or national disaster that might be of importance. The Civil Air Patrol became very active after the Sept. 11th bombing. They also look out for any suspicious Aircraft that might be flying in any given area and report it to a given source. Civil Air Patrol has an extensive structured program that they train their volunteers by and also a similar program to train the youth that are teenage to about 21. Regards Pat R
