Hi, My cousin was also an airplane spotter during WWII out in Friday Harbor, WA. But she was no teenager. They had lots of people doing it...to prevent another Pearl Harbor. She did not take leadership or morals classes, she had a poster, I believe with pictures of the undersides and front/sides of various enemy planes.
